I just want to hit someone now.
When I was a kid, we used to collect dog shit in a bag, using a stick. Then we'd find lots of phone boxes with the old brass cup handles you had to put your fingers in to open. Smeared the contents of the bag into the handles and wait......... Then one day I had a real, real, bad day. It culminated in a puncture to my van, with no spare ( and no mobiles then); I had to walk miles to the nearest phone box to summon help. Phone box found, I ran to it, went to open it and yes! Instant karma.

We don't have a 'Today I'm Confused About' thread so I'm putting this in here. I ran a MacAfee scan on my PC this morning which told me that it had detected and deleted 12 'Tracking Cookies'. What exactly are they (in layman's terms please) and how much information can they gather?
I'm a bit worried because I use internet banking an so on. Should I be worried?

I think they track your internet movements to see what sites you visit rather than retaining passwords etc.. MacAfee probably plant them themselves for advertisers to see what kind of stuff you like / buy

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Probs not, best to set IE or whatever you use to delete temp files and cookies on exit pain because you have to type in all your passwords etc everytime but it should get rid of these and limit their tracking to just that session. You probably picked these up after a couple of days as you went along.Bruce Rioja wrote:We don't have a 'Today I'm Confused About' thread so I'm putting this in here. How fecking hard can it be to run a proper train service?! It's getting beyond a joke. More than half the trains I get on are late. It hasn't even started snowing yet! I got weird looks yesterday as I was sat in the waiting room at Bolton and the screen had the next 5 trains as all being delayed. The time said 19.44 and the woman on the tannoy said "the next train to arrive will be the 19.30....". It's like some North Korean psycho mind fook.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Cycle lanes next. Lyrca wearing tossers.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yes - I do frequently. It can clear your cookies, remove history of sites visited, speed up your computer by allowing you to clean up unnecessary programs on start up and a host of other things. I'll try to find a guide on CCleaner for you but there's lots of stuff on the web to show you how to use it.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Edit : Bruce before you erase your cookies there may be some you want to keep - ie for websites you use frequently.
For example on this website cookies are used to remember which post you have read so if you remove the cookies, the next time you log on it won't show the new posts until you have used the site once.
This is easy to fix - In CCleaner go to Options then Cookies. On the LHS it will show a list of cookies on the computer, choose the sites you visit frequently eg The-Wanderer.co.uk, and move to the RHS by clicking the arrow in the middle of the page. This will put these selected sites in the "Cookies you want to keep" column and CCleaner will not remove them. You only need do this for the sites you know - anything else I don't recognise I get rid of. You only have to do this once.
I am not a computer whizz but I find it easy to use.
