a) For the times they are a changin'Bruce Rioja wrote:(a) If you wrote your autobiography, what would you call it? And why?
(b) What's the best piece of advice that you've ever received ? And why?
(c) What's the furthest that you've ever been in your slippers? And why?
Cos my job has often involed managing change. And my life has changed a lot. And cos Dylan is ace...
b) Probably the best bit of advice was from a friend who was dying from terminal cancer. They told me to do what I wanted, and not to worry about pleasing anyone, as folk you have to try to please will inevitably disappear from your life and then you'll wonder what the hell you were doing....ones that you please naturally will be the ones that stick around...They died a few weeks later. The words stuck with me for ever.
c) I don't own slippers, have them thick socks with sticky pads on instead....

(b). No-one's all good & no-one's all bad.
(c). Don't have slippers .... though I drove to Heathrow once in flip-flops.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Some Questions
a: No, I wouldn't bother. Bolton or no team.GG asked:
- If you didn't support Bolton would you support another team and if so, which?
- Who (or what) was the first love of your life?
- If you had the chance to go back in time for 24 hours, where and when would you go?
b: Sxxxxx. First girl I ever kissed (behind the garages outside Holy Harbour football pitch). She used to wait for me outside the shop on Elgin Street and I was the envy of the area. I was madly in love till some traitorous, jealous liar told me she'd kissed somebody else at a party . I was mortified, well, you are at 13 aren't you? I was so mad I fell in love with the girl next door but one, the very next day..
c: Bolton Palais in its hey-day around 1956. Magical place.

Re: Some Questions
Indeed - can I just qualify my Derby County bit? I was born in Burton but was raised in Bolton from being six months old. I assume I'd have supported my local team had we stayed there. Barring their success in the early 70's, supporting Derby must be an almost identical ride to ours anyway - so I'd still be all bitter and twistedTANGODANCER wrote:

A) Already do: Buxton FC, second choice Bolton Wanderers, third choice Sheffield United, telly choice Liverpool, out and about in the rest of the world choice Vasco De GamaGooner Girl wrote:

B) Life itself. One of my very first memories was being scared shitless after watching a film (can't remember which film, but lots of thumping noises in walls) and thinking "I don't like the thought of death, I want to live forever".
C) The ice age. I want to dance with mammoths.

Here are my three questions:
1: Who is your all-time favourite fictional character in a book or film?
2: What was your personal scariest moment?
3: What is the oddest accident that ever happened to you ?

1: Who is your all-time favourite fictional character in a book or film?
William Brown in the Just William series. I was a right little tomboy as a kid!
2: What was your personal scariest moment?
Seeing a photo of Bish dressed as a Princess.
3: What is the oddest accident that ever happened to you ?
When i was about 12 and taking part in my first ever athletics meeting i missed the mat when High Jumping, fosbury flopped onto concrete and went to hospital with concussion. Other then having the twins its the only time i've been to hospital.

Re: Some Questions
Roy Race of Melchester Rovers. My childhood hero. One of my best mates, who's name is Paul, is still know as 'Roy' because he once smacked one into the top corner from 25 yards.TANGODANCER wrote:

I have two, if that's not greedy? The nett result was the same in each - 'This is where it all ends, Big Lad'. Realising that you're about to die is remarkably panic-free, and brings on a clarity of thought that I've never experienced in any other situation. The first was when I was ambushed by a dozen or so weapons (inc. knives)-bearing bastards on my walk back to the car from The Den, Millwall, in 85.TANGODANCER wrote: 2: What was your personal scariest moment?
The second was in Dec 1994, driving home from my then GF's in Liverpool down the East Lancs when this nice person did a U-turn through the central reservation right in front of me. It was late at night so I'll have been driving between 70 & 80 mph.
A couple again. One was falling out of a conker tree in Dent and putting a hairline fracture in my skull, the other is my now deformed left thumb which came about by opening a can of corned beef!TANGODANCER wrote: 3: What is the oddest accident that ever happened to you ?

1: Patrick Bateman or Lincoln Rhyme.
2: Getting married..........or being at the hospital getting told by the doctor that unless they delivered my son early, he could die, my wife could die or they both could die.
3: Skimming a piece of glass into the sea.....big chunk out of my index finger.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Re: Some Questions
For TANGO:
1. Unlike Monty I'd say Jeeves rather than Bertie.
2. Ignoring health problems I think, probably, that the time I crashed my car when participating in a N.S.W. 'junior' rally (the Clinton's 500) would be it. The vehicle was a 1930 Chevrolet tourer, my navigator was my brother. We were following a couple of decent handling cars and about to drop down into a valley. They turned suddenly left and disappeared. All I could see before me was a very, very, short stretch of road and the tops of trees a few hundred feet below. Instinct led me to heave the wheel to the right, hold the beast sideways, and hang on. We both survived whilst the car sustained some serious damage. Even today I shudder at what might have happened should I have tried to follow the other competitors.
3. Perhaps my asking my wife to marry me and being accepted? It has worked out though so maybe an accident (or slip of the tongue) is the wrong description.

Not sure which prancing nancy it was but there was definitely a puffed wheat near the lower left corner.
