this would be a good idea as a separate thread; the connoisseurs can discuss & recommend, and us plebs can take heed?Verbal wrote:Winos
Could you recommend me a nice, cheapish, bottle of red? Available in supermarkets, like.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Tonight is my wife-and-partner's birthday celebration.
Table booked at India Gate on the road to Rammy, prompted by the persistent recco of the General and others.
With bottle of champagne at home to be opened as aperitif...

You won't be disappointed, should be a decent atmosphere being a Sarurday, sometimes that's its downfall as its so big. And ill say it again, Lamb Hari Merchi is my usual, but I could geuinely just eat the naan breads!

Two boxes of dried peas soaking away until tomorrow, 700g of ham 'bits' in the fridge, four mahoooosive carrots ready to be peeled and chopped. Autumn (and Farts-ville) here I come!

Genshaw's pee in the shower is like a pee in the baths. It's impossible not to have a pee when you're having a pooh. That's not just me, is it?Gooner Girl wrote:(trying to distract myself from Harry Genshaws peeing in the shower fb status... )

What's the filling GG? Bacon on the pic above looks like it needs to be crispier imo.Gooner Girl wrote:Ignoring Bruce lowering the tone - they were delish! Seriously good!

My bacon was crispier! Eggs whisked with a small bit of grated cheese added to mix. Bacon round the edge of a hole in a muffin tin, pour mix in and cook at 180 for around 20 minutes. Dead easy. Would make a nice starter for a meal.

This food is seriously good. The pappadums and chutneys a good appetiser - not at all greasy pappadum, accompaniments sweet and spicy.Bruce Rioja wrote:Have a fantastic evening, William. I know you to be a discerning fellow when it comes to such matters - I look forward to your take on the place.
Our starters included a marinaded white fish - excellent - and the best onion bhajis ever - light, sweet, tasty...
Four main courses - all delicious - totally defeated us. Really generous portions, and i loved the whole garlic cloves and red and green chillis used... Taste explosions. We have a meal for two - at least - tomorrow (we took it all home).
Good service. Good wine list. We did a New Zealand Pinot Noir that was better than many a generic burgundy...
Nice touch with the included digestif brandy or baileys at the end...
Hasn't quite overtaken Spice Valley for me - but nice to have two places of real quality on the doorstep. We'll be going again. but I'd do two Spice Valleys for every one of India Gate... My wife thinks exactly the other way round... I'll not contradict on her birthday...
£85 for four - I'm not grumbling...

Give the man an apple.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
