I wish Michelle Obama would disappear tho - she makes Sam Cameron look glamorous - I swear she ran in the Grand National last week.

Are you seriously trying to compare George Galloway's oratory skills to those of Obama?as wrote:So is George Galloway, I didn't realise the ability to speak clearly meant so much to people....!mrkint wrote:Listening to Obama's speech at the Boston ceremony today. Obama is probably one of the great public speakers of the last 50 years. In fact he's so good I often think I'm watching a hollywood film when he's speaking (is that a good or bad thing?).
Galloway, is passionate, I agree with some stuff he says, but lets not get carried away.

Just for a bit of balance, the man bores the pants off me.
I think George is ace btw. Straight to the point on most things, no fannying about.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

indeed - obama is too polished to capture my interest.. it is as if every word has been buffed and checked and put through a word-polishing machine...
I tend to be inspired by oratory that (at least seems) to be extempore...

Re: The Politics Thread
Galloway is a much better speaker than Obama.
With Obama, you can always see him mechanically going side-to-side with his tow, angled teleprompters. He's usually dreadful off the cuff, too.
I have seen Obama give two, excellent, impassioned speeches this week, however - one on gun control and this one in Boston. Both times I have wondered whether he had somehow sneaked a teleprompter into proceedings.

Have you ever read Michelle Obama's Princeton dissertation, Monty? Look it up, if not.

Re: The Politics Thread
You mean "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community" for her BA in 1985? Come on, PB, I have read too many undergraduate papers. Our fellow poster 'as' thought she was ugly and belonged in the Grand National. I disagreed purely on the basis of looks. Okay, I've read the introduction to her thesis. There is a touching naivety combined with the believe she finally understands things.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Have you ever read Michelle Obama's Princeton dissertation, Monty? These experiences have made it apparent to me that the
path I have chosen to follow by attending Princeton will
likely lead to my further integration and/or assimilation
into a White cultural and social structure that will only
allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becom-
ing a full participant. This realization has presently,
made my goals to actively utilize my resources to benefit
the Black community more desirable.
They split infinitives in Princeton.
Seriously, Jon, is there some reason i should spend a few hours of what remains to me to read the whole thing?
