What are you reading tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Currently reading Pete Townshend's autobiography. Some interesting stuff in there but I cant quite shake the feeling that he's over egging his childhood experiences to explain/excuse what's going to happen later on...

We've not see his book yet that he was 'researching' on all those kiddie porn sites, have we? The man's a wanker. I've no time for him whatsoever.

It's quite interesting but didn't live up to the hype.

I've had two weeks catching up on a backlog of unread copies of London Review of Books, and New Left Review. Excellent stuff - but one new year resolution will be to read everything in the week it arrives, and not two years later.

may I suggest an accompanying resolution not to order the whole booker shortlist at the same time!

I'm afraid I can never resist the bargain offer. I've managed four of the six of this year's list so far.

Interesting place, The Edge (the area, not the village). I might just read The Weirdstone of Brisingamen again after being reminded about it.

Years ago I used to do security visits on several properties in the village. It absolutely reeked of money everywhere. Lovely area though.

Brilliant book, one of the finest I read as a child, and I got through a lot. Genuine magical air about it, a bit like Masefield's Box of Delights, which i also loved.

Ah, look forwards to that. Recently watched the extended DVD's and at 3hrs long each they didn't seem a minute too long.

Got several books for Xmas to enjoy over the coming weeks. Finally going to get round to the 'Ragged trouser philanthropist' too. Lovely

Missus bought me a book called 'S' which is a bit of a strange, but interesting concept.. It's a co-collaboration between J.J Abrams (movie director) and a novelist called Doug Dorst.

I tried to describe it, deleted it and looked it up online. It'll give you more of a clue regarding what it's all about. Can't wait to get started!

I got the same thing off her parents. I've not got it out of its cellophane yet but she reckons it's nuts, but ace.

I don't even know where to start with it to be honest... Do it a page at a time, or read the novel bit first in its entirety?

What did she do?

Got HHhH for christmas. Its very good - about Operation Anthropoid. Translated from French, it flows like something you'd expect from a French book - it can be very whimsical and veers off into the philosophical at times (though I think this is intended).
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
