I've not had sea bass for ages, will try that next time if it's onWilliam the White wrote:I really enjoyed soup and then sea bass about a month ago. Spoilt for choice menu-wise, right up my street.
Braised blade of beef, pulled pork starter. Very good. Mum had never been before, she loved it. She had a creamed mushroom and bacon starter and a ribeye steak.
How was The Cross Guns?

Anyhoo. Pulled pork (as mentioned by Lever) - is it just me, or is it getting everywhere these days? It seems to be coming ubiquitous.

Yes and despite looking fantastic, it often disappoints.Worthy4England wrote:Anyhoo. Pulled pork (as mentioned by Lever) - is it just me, or is it getting everywhere these days? It seems to be coming ubiquitous.
We went to that Coast2Coast the other week and it was on pretty much everything. Probably even on the vegetarian menu.
It was on one of my trio of mini burgers and in Nat's wrap. The whole thing (for 1 course and a drink each) cost us north of £40 and was pretty feckin' shite if I'm honest. Both left full, but wishing we'd have gone elsewhere / not bothered

Was at an Italian Restaurant in Barrow last night with a colleague as working away, 2 starters, 2 mains, some garlic bread and 4 pints came to £40. They didn't skimp on the portions and it all tasted good too!boltonboris wrote:Yes and despite looking fantastic, it often disappoints.Worthy4England wrote:Anyhoo. Reminds me of when my mates put half the buffet in my pint when I went to the toilet. Obviously still tried to drink it to save face, but failed.

I had it in Birmingham, Alabama once. It was amazing. Was travelling with a friend, and ended up staying with the parents of a friend of his. They showed us round the place and took us for a meal.LeverEnd wrote:I know what you mean, does seem the trendy thing. First heard of it on Man vs Food and I love it.Worthy4England wrote:Anyhoo. Chicken and sweetcorn soup, prawn crackers and a Vermicelli Singapore style. I will admit freely, I've had a Chinese.

Oh you're absolutely welcome, Fella. If you've made enough then just leave it on the stove - it gets better and better.Burnden Paddock wrote:Did Bruce's goulash recipe last weekend. It went down so well that it has been requested for a new years family get together.

Oh, I made enough alright. However, only a small portion made it through to day 2. Think i'll double up on quantities next time.Bruce Rioja wrote:Oh you're absolutely welcome, Fella. Oh, I should add that I improvised with;
3 tomatoes, peeled, seeds removed, roughly chopped - Used a half a tin of chopped tomatoes, and -
50 g piquillo red peppers, from a jar, cut into strips - Bought a jar of roasted red peppers instead (no idea what piquillo peppers are).
Also, I used normal paprika but it'd definitely benefit for 'smoked'.
