Just signed up for the Kentmere fell race in July as it was filling up pretty quickly. It's supposed to be a bit of a toughy so I've got a few months to get my fitness and my navigating skills up to speed

Was supposed to have done 13 miles today but cut off early as a mate wasn't feeling well. Jogged the last couple of miles with him to keep him company.
Still managed just under 12 miles at 8:38 pace. Legs feel fresh too which is a great sign.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Cheers G. You seem to be running really well at the moment. All that conditioning work paying off?
Todays fell race was a real grueller at a place called Fairmile near to Sedburgh. It involved the steepest and longest climb I've ever attempted, once on the summit the wind was extremely strong and the clag was down for a short dash across a ridge line. What followed was the scariest but most exhilarating descent I've ever done. Once or twice the rate of descent surprised me and it was hard to keep momentum (fell a over t 3 times!!) down to the finish. Absolutely brilliant and I'm still buzzing (bit sore mind). Next weeks race at Burbank (?) is supposed to be even steeper

That sounds mental. Had a few hills on my route but all on road.

I've heard of clagnuts GG. Can be a problem at the end of a long run with no toilet facilities. I suspect it's secret fellrunner speak. You need a beard and anorak to understand!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
