Went to see "The Monuments Men".
It's not going to win any Oscars, but a pleasant 3 hours entertainment.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

He's just got one of them stream buddys of E-bay. £100. He's got all the channels and up to the minute movies (he watched 'She' on it last week). Only draw backs he says is no pausing a'la Sky + and the sports channels aren't in HD. Not bad for a saving of nearly a grand a year though

Did they enjoy 'She' Harry? Have they seen 'Texas consumers society' too, or the Duplo Movie?

I agree with this. Though seemed less than 3 hours.bobo the clown wrote:Went to see "The Monuments Men".

There has to be a better film in this story, surely? The central problem is that the quest lacks any real focus, because the team is split into small groups, and it's rarely clear what specifically they are aiming to achieve, and what are the risks they have to overcome.
So the dramatic tension is pretty low.
That said, I'm impressed that anyone would make a movie about the intent to rescue great art from the Nazi war machine.

I have seen the Michaelangelo Madonna & Child in Brugges, so there was a nice surprise in the film.

Despite being pretty tech savvy I can't say I've heard of this. Had a look and am I right in saying that there are channels he can watch brand new films and live football from?Harry Genshaw wrote:Guy at work was watching that on Friday. I initially thought it was a simple streaming device where you download a film onto your laptop and stream to your tv wirelessly, which I've done for years, but it looks more than that.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
There's a place in Wigan thats knocking out the "Googlebox" thingys (like what Harry mentioned) for £79. Both the parents and my sister have one and my mate and says they're the best thing since sliced bread. Definitely going to invest in one myself as its the future and isn't illegal to own the box or to watch the movies/programmes!!!hi there, i'm chris wrote:Despite being pretty tech savvy I can't say I've heard of this. Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched "The Purge" last night, and was surprisingly pleased as to how decent it is. Not the best film ever but definitely not the worst. Not too much to think about but a decent "Thriller" rather than horror with an interesting (yet plot-hole riddled) story and an interesting idea about how to stop violence in the USA.

I dipped into it for about 5 minutes last week, and thought "this looks good, but maybe I'll spoil it if I just dip into EP3"....What side is it on, and is there any online catch-up available for the first three EPS?Bruce Rioja wrote:It's like sinister Roald Dahl. It's a different story each week, Worthy, and on BBC2. The General posted a linky on here to the first ep so I imagine you'll find them on the I player.Worthy4England wrote:I dipped into it for about 5 minutes last week, and thought "this looks good, but maybe I'll spoil it if I just dip into EP3"....What side is it on, and is there any online catch-up available for the first three EPS?Bruce Rioja wrote:It's like sinister Roald Dahl. Yep, anyone who hasn't watched No9 needs to get on it. Superb innovative stuff, sometimes unsettling, sometimes more than a little odd, always very funny.
