What are you watching tonight?

As a lover of the Sopranos, I never thought it would be knocked off it's perch. Until I watched House of Cards. Best thing I have EVER seen on tv. Absolutely hooked and can't wait for the next series.

Just finished the first series BB. Kept feeling like it almost caught fire but never quite did (and when it did I laughed when I don't think it was supposed to be funny - see that scene in the underground station!), not to say it wasn't good though. Second series better?

Only The Wire comes close.

Agree on this. The Wire was my favourite, watched it and The Sopranos a second time around then changed my mind.

I think the General is right, despite the excitement watching the last 8 episodes as they came out on reflection Breaking Bad isn't as good as the others. Game of Thrones I've only seen 3 seasons, but it seems to rely on quite heavily on boobs (even for a HBO show) and killing characters unexpectedly.

I haven't seen the american House of Cards yet as I'm well into Mad Men at the minute.

Also, the funniest show ever is Curb Your Enthusiasm.

am rewatching The Wire - this time with the kids (who were too young first time round)... it's just as good...

that thing just happened to Stringer with Brother Mouzone and Omar working together.... still shocking second time round!

Brother Mouzone and Omar have to be the coolest (albeit temporary) double-act ever! :-)

It's a good watch second time around, there's so much going on there are inevitably things you won't pick up on the first watch.

for fans of tv show connections, Brother Muozone plays one of the detectives interviewing the main guys in True Detective.

Didn't spot that, and spotting people from things in other things is my super power.

Wallace from S1 of the The Wire also turns up in S4&5 of Friday Night Lights. I like to think he somehow survived Baltimore and ended up in witness protection in Texas to become a star quarterback.

Michael Kenneth Williams who plays Omar also has a brief cameo in The Sopranos (I think in an episode that may pre-date The Wire).

Yeah, on the ship? Remember being disappointed his part was so small.

There are a couple of other actors from The Wire in True Detective

Did anyone watch 'Boss' ? It was like The Wire crossed with The West Wing with added sex and swearing. Cancelled after two Seasons sadly.

Oh! I remember. The guy who plays Avon Barksdale plays a waiter or something in a Jack Nicholson film...I think it's 'As good as it gets' the one where he plays the OCD guy?

Ha I love spotting people from other shows. GoT cast are everywhere at the moment. Particularly Cat Stark and Varys.

It's best when it's something from before an actor got well known. See Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the low budget classic 'Troll'.

Yeah, definitely. Omar in the Sops was like that. Also, if you don't know she's in them, as I didn't with the latter, seeing Natalie Portman in 'Leon' and 'Heat' is a big OMFG moment.

Scarlett Johansson in Home Alone 3 is another to look out for.

I caught the end of Bill and Ted last weekend and for the first time noticed that George Carlin was in it, no idea how I hadn't picked up on that previously.

Omar fans wanna get into Boardwalk!

Btw has anyone seen Downhill, about the four blokes who attempt the coast to coast walk? Pretty funny.
