Well, no ... not SEEN him, but I listened to him once on R4. 30m of bad puns & Malapropisms done with a faked speech impediment. Since that evening I've 'listened' just so long as it takes to switch over.Little Green Man wrote:You've obviously not seen Count Arthur Strong then. I would happily drill my teeth out with a black & decker rather than watch 3 seconds of that prick.
He's bad, my Manalishi-like friend, very bad .... but only on the Paddy McGuiness type level, not the Keilty & Henry scale, no-where near that. No-where near.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I've had the misfortune of seeing him live. I'd have quite happily seen him dead that night.bobo the clown wrote:Well, no ... not SEEN him, but I listened to him once on R4. 30m of bad puns & Malapropisms done with a faked speech impediment. I couldn't watch beyond two minutes. To further compound things, I noticed at the side of the screen the name of a man who is quite possibly the least funny comedian on earth The Iraqi Alexi Sayle: Omid Jalili.bobo the clown wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEsPbN61UzMcommunistworkethic wrote:if you watch the episode of Top Gear where he's the "star" in a reasonably priced car, that's his entire act.

I must confess I don't know much about the set-up at the Octagon. I'm just going off what I was told at the ticket desk.Bruce Rioja wrote:I was going to get tickets for Jason Manford myself but it clashes with a work thang. I've only ever seen his stand up on TV on that Jack Dee at Hammersmith Odeon thing and I thought that he was superb. I've since listened to his radio programme an found it to be far less than enjoyable, but I'll definitely give his stand-up the once over next time.Rated R Superstar wrote: I got tickets for Mr Howard yesterday. I tried to get tickets for Jason Manford at the Octagon next month but there were no wheelchair-friendly spaces left
Shame to read that you couldn't get in, Superstar. Surely all around the periphery of the stage could be used for wheelchair users, no?
I'm on the the stand-by list so should any tickets become available they'll ring me. Fingers crossed.

I've tried to find an image of it but have failed miserably, and it's really difficult to explain. I'll try. Inside the octagonal theatre, five sides are banks of seats and the stage is basically the remaining three sides and the flat floor at the bottom. As such, an act has to try to play to all five seated sides of the theatre, no mean feat. However, what I was saying about room for wheelchair users is that all the banks of seats stop as if there are two rows missing at the front, a bit like the Reebok you might say. See, so that's where I was thinking of. Anyway, let's hope that you do get one.Rated R Superstar wrote: I must confess I don't know much about the set-up at the Octagon.
