This reminds me of the scene in the matrix when they're getting excited watching Neo and Morpheous fight by looking at numbers on a monitor.

Lines? I don't do lines.
I've obviously heard of the names of some openings, Ruy Lopez, for example, but I wouldn't know it if it hit me between the eyes. I just move the pieces according to where I want them and if they end up in some unorthodox move then the more the merrier. :D
Nonetheless, your random moves eventually led to the fianchetto of your King's bishop - the opening would be known as "King's Indian in reverse" or "King's Indian attack". Pity you didn't spot the Queen pinned against the rook - will be hard work now but never give up.
I was a big fan of the fianchetto when I was a youth...

I'm looking forward to a Monty v kinty battle, that really would be Matrix like :D

i have played a couple of email/internet games - usually quite fairly - but once discovered (via his missus making an accidental remark) that an opponent was actually pitting me against his chess software and passing the moves off as his own - meaning that he never made any of the mistakes that he made when I played him LIVE... has kinda put me off this kind of battle!

It would be a great disappointment, I fear. You, kinty and I have discussed this under the What are you reading thread (where you coined the immortal "frontgame" to describe the opening phase). At the time I said I had studied opening theory (hence my ability to put a name to the rare opening used here). However, I pointed out that I was hopeless in the middle and end game (unless the opening gave a huge advantage). I even mentioned overlooking a bishop on a long diagonal through brain farts (I guess you know that feeling  ). I actually said:

My problem with the later parts of the game is brain farts - overlooking something simple like a knight fork or a bishop on a long diagonal that is freed up by a pawn move. These turn winning position into absolute humiliation and no books can help with this.
I have no doubt kinty would slaughter me since I have not played chess across the board for decades. I doubt I would do as well as you, Spotty.

Indeed! When I commented on the term earlier you responded:

Thus you not only tipped us off on you fondness for Indian openings, but also your skills in higher mathematics.
