I think we finished it with dill and fish sauce aswell (or any green herbs, memory is a bit scratchy). Galangal, I'm pretty certain some supermarkets sell (Sainsburys??) I'm sure you can pick it up in Bolton, just can't remember where.

BBQ at 4. Feckin' starving, so it better be a good 'un! Proper let it slip this weekend though. Curry Friday night, leftover Curry on Sat for dinner. Donner Kebab and Pizza last night. Leftover Pizza for brunch today. Copious amounts of alcohol, including Jagerbombs. Which would have been okay, had I actually left the house!!
Body feels like it's going to give in today..

Jagerbombs at home....jeeeesus. Dangerous. They're like a memory switch, no matter how much I've had, before or after, I lose all memory from the moment I have one of those. *Shudders*boltonboris wrote:BBQ at 4. Lovely day so we're eating al-aire-libre. Not salady stuff though, steak and onions with roasted and boiled spuds, cauliflower and the pound of pea swods the wife shelled this afternoon. Did a miss on the bacon sarnies due to a gardening day, just toast, so I'm well ready. Drop of ice-cold San Miguel will do nicely with it. Sorted.

Kangana will despair, but so what. I've started buying certain items from my local Aldi, and on my last visit I picked up a jar of Dhansak sauce. This one, though, comes with a tubby of mixed, dried spices that you add to the meat after sealing, before tipping the sauce in a minute later. I shall let you know how it goes.

Sorry, bish. I meant Kangana will despair at my buying a jar of curry sauce. As regards shopping at Aldi, some of the stuff that they sell is absolutely excellent, and as you so rightly point out, the packs of smoked salmon (I'm a mustard and dill sauce man myself) are indeed, ace. The smoked Bavarian ham that they sell is possibly the finest that I've tasted.thebish wrote:nowt wrong with Aldi! their packs of smoked salmon with pesto or pepper sauce are ace!Bruce Rioja wrote:Kangana will despair, but so what. ahh - now I remember our joint faux-pas over the TV Chef/Rugby Player - Phil Vickery... that was Aldi!Bruce Rioja wrote:Sorry, bish. I meant Kangana will despair at my buying a jar of curry sauce. The Naga Special hits the spot

been before actually, was really good but that was ordering hot fresh food off the menu, tonight we tried the Sunday banquet which was particularly shite. was all a bit stale and cold, and not the best selection either. filled a gap i suppose. tbf, ive never been to a good one of these banquets, and a tenner each was harsh for what we actually ate.
The Eastern Eye in Rammy still wins for us on Sundays. £8.50 each and you can choose a starter, a main, a sundry, & a side off the whole menu, plus you get a couple of poppadops & the slops too. all hot and cooked to order! its very nice too and if theres a few of you, you can get a right old banquet going of your own!
