never seen this-Denzel Washington is fantastic as usual. Will leave a big hole to fill when he gives up the game. One of the few actors that will get me to watch a film even if I have heard nothing of the film or seen a trailer etc..

OK, is this a spoof? Seriously. Are they taking the piss? It's embarrassing that this shite actually might have a sizeable audience. fecking hell fire.General Mannerheim wrote:Haha, look forward to your review on that little gem...Bruce Rioja wrote:Anyhooo, tonight finds me all at sea with only one cinema on board, so at 20:30 I'll be watching Taken II. I do hope it's a little more plausible than the first one.

Been watching the TV Series of Friday Night Lights. Seems very Teen Drama-ish to me, and the way they set up what happens to the QB in the first episode is laughably predictable, reminiscent of what would happen in Casualty preceding some terrible accident. Quite good though.

Danny Bakers Album show has been good for 'people of a certain age'. BBC4 i think, 2 down, oneto go. Hopefully accessible through catch-up if you've missed it.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

wasnt bane that ruined it, it was the stupid half of the film or so where there is no batman. and the silly glance back scene at the end.

When you compare him to the Joker in the last one then yes (Heath Ledger was amazing). I still enjoyed DNR myself.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Have to say that of the three it's the one I've enjoyed the least, but the bar is set pretty high. Him with the mask on? I could barely understand a single word he came out with, except for where they'd clearly over-dubbed it, presumably in order that people would have a chance of hearing what it is that he was on about.
Tell you what though - I was absolutely stunned to realise when I came out that I'd been watching it for 2 & 3/4 hours - so it certainly held my attention, and my attention span is generally far from resilient.

Heath did do a good turn.....but was the role over hyped due to him dying?ChrisC wrote:Why so serious?Raven wrote:Disagree the baddie (Bane?) ruined it for me, he was laughableChrisC wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:Ahh, this evening's maritime movie madness is The Dark Knight Rises. Oh, does he indeed?!

Fair comment mate, but I thought he was fantastic and the film wouldn't have gripped me as much if someone else had played the Joker.

As daft as it sounds, sometimes an actor gets a role that his face and his build and his style suggests he was born just to do that. I think that was the case with Ledger / The Joker

Don't get me wrong, he played the part well....I just feel that more was made of the role following his death. With regard the Batman films, he is The Joker.....far better than Jack Nicholson's. Likewise, Bale is Batman.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Yep.. The casting for all the DK films had been as good as it gets and the execution from the main actors in all of them is just as good

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Ledger was ace, and I take the point about some people just being 'right' for a role. But I don't think he was any more 'right' for that role than Johnny Depp was for Jack Sparrow (and Raoul Duke) or Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden. I think if he hadn't died everyone would still be saying he was amazing, he was, but I don't think he'd have won an Oscar.
