Went to see Buena Vista Social Club live at the Bridgewater Hall a couple of years ago; absolute magic.jmjhb wrote:Continuing the Latin music theme, I've been listening to Nouvelle Vague (bossanova covers) and a cover album by Buena Vista Social Club. Both are excellent.

I'll have to take you at your word for that, Doc. Like LGM, Belle and Sebastian passed me by. However, my comment was made in reference to them massaging the voting figures to land the Mercury Music Prize. Soz fert confusion.Dr Hotdog wrote:Belle and Sebastian are bloomin marvellous Brucey boy! how dare you!

The first album just shades it for me (probably because I own most of the originals of the tracks that are on it), but Bande A'Part is still a cracking listen and well worthwhile.jmjhb wrote:Their first album, though I'm intending to get their second album asapBruce Rioja wrote:A most excellent choice, Sir. Have to agree with the Doc - they were very good live in Cambridge too.Bruce Rioja wrote:I'll have to take you at your word for that, Doc. Like LGM, Belle and Sebastian passed me by. Has anybody got a Last.FM/Audioscrobbler account? Basically it calculates what music you listen to and puts it into a weekly chart and an overall chart. You can then see what you listen to most and what you listened to recently. It's very good and can be used to recommend artists.
