That photography exhibition looks fantastic... and, imo, to be beautiful is enough for art... but definitions of that are highly flexible... when you first posted I had a shudder at the thought of the pre-raph mince that might be there... Is it really choc box?
it's not all pre-raphaelite - but it is pretty much all chocolate box mince.... some pretty sharp caricature in there - Aubrey Beardsley was part of the later set (looked to me like a very early Gerald Scarfe)
the photography will leave a longer-lasting impression though...
Re: Where are you going tonight?
also some other stuff sending up the effete aesthetes - such as Noel Coward..

Re: Where are you going tonight?
as i said above, the cafe rooms at the V&A are very posh..
this poor young lady seems to have been given the job of holding up a very heavy looking mantelpiece - so I sportingly gave her a hand for a while...

Tonight's the night I go and see something I wish I'd been able to 30 years ago.
It WILL be emotional.

I did!
Wow, what a fantastic spectacle. Ignoring Waters' obvious narcissism it was a fantastic musical and theatrical experience.
And yes, it did get emotional.

Wept like a child.
There is a point during the concert (Bring the Boys Back Home) showing footage of children in a classroom welcoming one of their peer's fathers back from a conflict zone. There is no commentary, written or verbal, just the reaction of the child when they realise it is THEIR father who has returned.
I'm filling up typing this.

Anyone good to go in Amsterdam? Went to Anne Franks house last night, wasn't exactly a laugh a minute. Anyone been to 'The Heineken Experience'?

Stand so that Centraal Station is at your back. Across the water and diagonally to your left is a hotel. A little further on than the hotel is a little street. Go down there and get monged!

Re: Where are you going tonight?
I'm unsure about Roger performing The Wall. Is he powerfully skint or something?
I'm off watching RUSH tomorrow night. In their set they're playing the Moving Pictures album in its entirety. It's gonna be a treat!
Next week I'm off to Barcelona for the Primavera Sound festival:
Highlights include: Swans, Shellac, John Cale, Pulp, Swans, Mogwai, Caribou, Flaming Lips, Grinderman, Einstürzende Neubauten, PJ Harvey, Autolux, Battles, Interpol, Field Music, Low, The Album Leaf, Belle & Sebastian and Mercury Rev performing Deserter's Songs.
Nothing too brilliant clashes with the champions league final on Saturday night so hopefully I'll get to watch Barca stuff United and go and celebrate with some Catalan folk! Brilliant.
Next month I'm off to Brussels to watch the newly reformed GOATSNAKE in concert. Ooooh splendid times ahead!

I have a mental image of some of Hotdog's bands taking to the stage.
"We're The Denizens of Death, this one's called Angel of Wormy Skulls, and if you don't like it you can all feck off".

Don't know about Roger but last night cost me a pretty penny!
2 x Tickets up in the Gods £150
Pre-parking payment £20
T-shirt £30
Key ring for daughter £10
Babysitter 6 hours £30
Seeing my favorite album performed live for the first time in 30 years? Priceless

Re: Where are you going tonight?
The 'Masterpieces' exhibition at the Rijksmuseum is full of, well, masterpices of Dutch 17th Centry Art including Rembrandt and Vermeer. And close by is the Van Gogh museum which has over a hunded of his work and, when i was there a month ago also had some fairly early Picasso that I really enjoyed.Beefheart wrote:Anyone good to go in Amsterdam?
