I'm looking to sell my car. To increase the chance of a reasonable price I organised someone to give it a professional wash, polish and vacuum the interior. The first company to be 'organised' were so disorganised that after them, over a couple of weeks, mucking me about with times and dates I told them not to bother. The second lot were just as bad only they didn't even bother to telephone me when their franchisee didn't turn up to an appointment.

Third time lucky. The lad turned up with his ute and trailer within 15 minutes of the appointed time. Even though it was raining he got stuck in; he was rewarded for this when the rain stopped for a while when he came to the polishing bit. Whilst vacuuming he got drenched but managed to keep the door trim dry. He also gave the donk a high-pressure clean at no extra cost.

That might sound odd for the 'happy' thread, but it's ever so pleasing to find a bloke who's prepared to do a job under adverse conditions and even then to do it on time.

The only negative out of this is that the rain has made it difficult to do a proper assessment of his work (we had 46.2 mm of precipitation in the 24-hours to 0900 this morning) but from what I have been able to see he did a sterling job.

[TANGO] I love your ship and admire your patience and dexterity.

[GG] All the best to your sister and the newbie.

I must have been thinking about your lot when I took up the hobby Dujon. First ship I built was the Endeavour.

Sorry, Crazy, you luddite, you! Don't you know that most transport down here is by donkey engines? My own donkey likes the odd hosing down followed by a bit of the curry comb. Bloody Pommies, really!

Congratulations, thebish. :oyea:

See, I've bought a few books from Amazon marketplace and what I can't understand is how come some people manage to keep books, especially paperbacks, in such good nick?

When I'm finished with a book it looks as well-thumbed as Judith Chalmers' passport, will have the odd rip in it here and there and will definitely contain food and drink stains. :conf:

it's not novels/paperbacks (I give them away to the church fund-raising book-stall) - mostly stuff I had to buy for my qualification in professional parent support and a load of books (I mean LOADS) the missus had to buy for her M.A.

Be careful with that.

This time last year I got a £850 rebate which went towards a holiday in Greece this year.

My accountant has just submitted my return for this year (I'm self employed) and assessed that I now didn't pay enough last year and they want an additional £950 for 2010/11 as well as this years first payment by the end of January.

It has left me really strapped at the worst time of year and I am seriously not impressed.
