The Ashes 2009

He wouldn't have even bothered to bat on that. His grandmother with a stick of rhubarb would have sufficed. It's early in the series anyway, and today looks to have been a belting day for batting as our tail will testify and they batted exceptionally up top. A good day tomorrow knocking them over for no more than 250 more and it's game on. That however depends on whether we have picked a decent new ball rather than the sponge we had today.Worthy4England wrote:Think there's plenty in that Jimbo, but even on the flattest of shirt fronts, you've sometimes still got to mix it up to buy a wicket, like Johnson did with Bopara. Boycs will generally point to the fact that no-one has batted anything like as good as he could - as per.jimbo wrote:Think Boycott summed it up in a line today - it's not that England's bowlers are any worse or doing any less, they are in fact better. It's just that Australia are batting a hell of a lot more sensibly and making good bowling look average. It's one of those tracks from the looks of things that if you apply yourself it'll take something special to get you out. Sadly we didn't do that batting and are now paying the price.
Tut tut at people slagging off Ponting. If you don't get him out within the first 15 mins where his balance is a bit out, its pretty much impossible to get him to make an error. Double hundred tomorrow. Strauss was weak as piss today - did the same thing for nearly 7 hours, try new things!!
Was right all along

What would you like to see Strauss try out of interest?Bruno wrote:Tut tut at people slagging off Ponting. I'd like to see our bowlers bowl better lines and lengths and hem the Aussies in. Not likely with Broad and Anderson though!

Sometimes the bowlers just have to lob in a half track legspinner that has the batsman laughing that hard, they top edge it.BWFC_Insane wrote:What would you like to see Strauss try out of interest?Bruno wrote:Tut tut at people slagging off Ponting. You have to watch out for the Bingle Bat if attempting to bowl the maiden over.Prufrock wrote:pffft 15 seconds, stop bragging. She could have some prufrocking twice in that time, and that's allowing for recovery time.Bruno wrote:I'd give her the best fifteen seconds of her life.

And if you, does your recovery time involve a cigarette, a pink dressing gown and a Parisian balcony?

Actually, don't answer that. The image is burned indelibly on the brain.
