The aging process determines that Jaffa Cakes are indeed cakes, regardless as to HMRC's claim re the smashing orangey bit.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 6:47 pmThe same category as Jaffa cakes? Ie no one quite knows?!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 6:43 pmSounds good to me.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 4:13 pmWe will crack on with biscuits from the barrel you have with a hot drink after the next category which is biscuits your mum would put in your pack lunch seeing as everyone’s trying to include Kit Kat’s in the wrong category!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 1:32 pmIf we do something similar re The Biscuit World Cup, then that's just a race for runner-up behind Border's Dark Chocolate Gingers, of which I've just had three with a pint of coffee![]()

Bizarrely they don't sell very well so I stopped bothering with them.
I can highly recommend Farmhouse Biscuits Oat Flips and Chocolate Oat Flips. They're made in Nelson but have made their way to my shop and sell well

Way different chocolate to wafer ratio in the chunky, which changes the category. Not that I believe a wafer belongs in the biscuit category. Biscuits and wafers are completely different things. Think we need another category.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:14 pmSo, you have kitkats in that section?Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:11 pmWell ALL knew Choc Digestives were biscuits, thanks for confirming!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:07 pmRight then, top 5 unit sales for biscuits...
January
1. Kit Kat 2 finger multipack
2. Tunnocks Caramel Wafers
3. McVities Milk Choc Digestives
4. Blue Riband multipack
5. Foxs Rocky Caramel multipack/McVities Digestives
February
1. kit Kat 2 finger multipack
2. McVities Digestives
3. Tunnocks Caramel Wafers
4. Tunnocks Tea Cakes (they live in my biscuit section despite cake status)
5. McVities Dark Choc Digestives
6. (cos 4 is technically not a biscuit) Jammie Dodgers
Tunnocks Caramel Wafers are currently leading for March with Blue Riband and Lotus Biscoff battling hard for a top 5 spot...

Gluten free chocolate hob nobs are surprisingly nice. Just about the only edible gluten free food I’ve ever tried.

If this was a boxing match, the ref would've stepped in three pages back. I've just dunked my cheesecake in my tea to disastrous results.

Perhaps we need to change the subject completely and go with a top 5 of something else! Crisp flavours? Best football shirts of all time?Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:22 pmIf this was a boxing match, the ref would've stepped in three pages back. Not been asked for them from our gluten free contingent. Unusual as we stock a lot of gluten free stuff and they aren't shy asking for stuff.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:20 pmAbdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:15 pmBizarrely they don't sell very well so I stopped bothering with them.

To clarify, is this purely crisps or are we including pub type snacks you might enjoy with a beer?Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:24 pmPerhaps we need to change the subject completely and go with a top 5 of something else! This is going to be a nightmare. What constitutes a crisp? Made from potatoes, lentils, chickpeas, Maize? Someone will mention Pringles and the whole thing will go to shit. I suggest top 5 tinned soup or summat.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:29 pmTo clarify, is this purely crisps or are we including pub type snacks you might enjoy with a beer?Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:24 pmPerhaps we need to change the subject completely and go with a top 5 of something else! Hmm on pub snacks, is a Scotch Egg a snack or is it still a main meal?Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:29 pmTo clarify, is this purely crisps or are we including pub type snacks you might enjoy with a beer?Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:24 pmPerhaps we need to change the subject completely and go with a top 5 of something else! Re: Top 5 of all time...
Funny you should bring that up, B.P.. I've been trying to remember who made those little packs of a biscuit, a pickle and a spread cheese triangle they used to sell in pubs . They had a little wooden paddle and sold off a card on the wall. They were always popular with a beer.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:29 pm

Depends who’s asking. If it’s the covid police then it’s a main meal every day of the week!

You get asked for lots of gluten free stuff?
I'm guessing Skye is a very different place to mainland Scotland.

Re: Top 5 of all time...
It's a very eclectic place and certainly a lot of products that sell well elsewhere don't here. Aside from tourism the local economy is crofting and fishing, so the locals have a connection with food that is maybe a little different to the norm. Aside from the Coop, there are only small convenience type shops dotted around with my supermarket a lot smaller than Coop, but a much larger range than everyone else. It's 3 hours to any other shops if you don't get stuck behind a camper van. That doesn't explain hob nobs, but it does why we sell so many niche food products like our imported Thai, Chinese and Indonesian ingredients. We have the largest range of dietary foods for several hours driving and do a good trade in eco stuff too. We're probably best known for cheese though, they're bloody obsessed with it and we stock around 150 different ones outside the quietest months.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 10:46 pmChocolate hob nobs dont sell well?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:28 pmDo you not sell chocolate hob bobs?

Same, Tango. I really don't know how but in memory they'd somehow taken on a level of desirableness, so I bought one as they were on offer in the supermarket. Absolutely disgusting. A couple of mouthfuls and straight in the bin.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 9:26 amI had one of those a while back, just to remind me how stodgy and tasteless they are.
