It's called "evolution".

Think the whole thing of comparison is based on time and progress. I agree with Norm's point on that. What made you laugh as kids seems childish when in your twenties. A lot of the people and programmes mentioned were funny and enjoyable at the time of making but seem dated and less appealing now. For me, the great comediens of past eras are still far ahead of the so-called "alternative" comedy of our politically correct world. Fun and laughter has always been the best way of people interacting, so credit to all the people who made me laugh, whatever the period. End of day, almost all comedy is based on the tragedy and misfortune of others, how ironic is that?

Morse? an object lesson in how to stretch 20 mins of programme into 2 hours...

(I used to watch it only because I once lived in Oxford and it was good fun to say - "Ooh, been in that pub" etc.) but I rarely got to the end still awake, and always gave up the will to live before the murderer was revealed - and by that time I didn't give a monkeys who the murderer was...

Lewis has gone downhill since, hasn't he? he's reduced to voice-overs now....

BTW - when I lived there (when Morse was on) I never realised Oxford was such a dangerous place to live... dozens of murders every week

Apart from the fact that Lewis is coming back in an ITV spin-off series...

For me one of the greats has to be Tony Hancock. Throw away lines such as "Does `Magna Carta' mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?"......and when he played Anthony Aloysius St John Hancock from Railway Cuttings, East Cheam. Sheer class.

In films such as The Rebel he was inspired. Let's face it, who could ever forget 'Aphrodite at the waterhole'

couldn't agree more..

Morse factor 20!!!!

My missus loves it - I've never stayed awake beyond the second advert break - and then it's only in the vain hope that Cully will be violently murdered....

still - did anyone see the blooper programme (themselves toe-curlingly bad) where Nettles is obviously in frisky mood and they are filming an abattoir scene..

he says something like..

"you never know where to look with these cadavers - all tit and minge!"

too right caps!!!

Barker is (was) comedy genius. His wordplay was second to none... It is a bit of a shame it had to be wrapped up in 70s "variety show" clothing...

Do you mean the brave Hungarian lass who made King john sign the pledge and close the boozers at half-past ten? Agree by the way re Hancock - I have a bunch of his stuff on CDs.

South park is funny, it is not meant to be a comedic masterpiece, but it is funny.

Extras is IMHO brilliant.

Sascha Baren cohen is a genius. The creator of Ali G, Borat, and Bruno. You have to look at what rediculous things he has people doing, just because they think they will be on T.V.

How can you say the Office is not funny. It is brilliant.

Dunno if this has been said before cos I cant be arsed trawling through all the posts but..........

Comedy is down to individual taste.
What I find funny, someone else will not.

You could go on posting on here till the year Dot, and arguing over who is funny etc.
