I think it worked perfectly. It obviously had to revolve around a ridiculous situation, it’s a feature length movie – and it uses this to take the piss out of itself too. Maybe it’s just my ignorant blind faith in Alan (and Ianucci) or Maybe it was seeing it on opening night in packed room of fanatics and people dressed as Alan, but I really don’t know what they could’ve done any better. It was the most fun ive ever had in a cinema. (excluding courting endeavours) Im gonna see it for the second time tonight, let’s see if it holds up to the 2nd viewing laughter test...

did you see any of Veep btw? Need to catch up with the second series myself...

Yes but Mummy that would just replicate the TV series, which never works in a film I thought it was spot on. They had to have a wider plot than just Alan being a tw*t on radio.

with clever writing i really don't see why it is a given that a longer version of the TV show wouldn't work on a big screen - why wouldn't it? the funny bits in the film were the bits that just replicated the TV series...

Fair enough. I just didn't think this worked that well either. I found it silly in a way that Alan Partridge usually isn't.

Went to the corner house this afternoon to see Wadjda a Saudi Arabian film with a female Saudi director. All about a young girl wanting to buy a bike despite it being forbidden in Saudi culture. Was a wonderful film, funny, tragic & touching. I left the cinema with a tear in my eye and not a little angry at the male interpretation of Islam that subjugates women in that region to the level it does.

Would highly recommend.

Just watched The Dancer Upstairs, John Malkovitch's debut as a film director. Part subtitled. Political revolutionary drama based in South America (Peru?). Slow, atmospheric but well acted and worked for me.

Excellent show, where are you up to? End of 2? If you like it watch The Mist, also directed by Frank Darabont. It's similar in that it's also more about how humans might interact in a horrific situation rather than about zombies, monsters etc.

Watched "Shoot Em Up" with Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti. The most "over the top" and crazy, but good fun film I've seen in ages. Cannot take it serious at all, but a good laugh nonetheless.

Love it, not quite as good as the first one but still a laugh.

As for Andrew Lincolns accent, funny it did not annoy some of the US cast, in fact some did not know he was even English for some time

The sequel was void of any integrity, panache & most importantly, laughs. Jim Carey was shit too. Massive mean-spirited disappointment.

Yeah started it the Saturday before last and finished both seasons already! I was really sceptical as zombies aren't really my thing but I loved it! Apaprently 3 is just as good.

Season 3 is ok, but there's too many sub-plots that go on and it gets a bit "bitty" (if that makes sense), loads of action in it though and ties up some loose ends from season 2, which in my opinion was a bit of a slow burner after the brilliant season 1.
The Mist is good (although not as good as the Short story by Stephen King from which its based). With how its filmed you can see the similarities with Walking Dead and Darabonts influence.
