governments have "committed themselves" to this for DECADES and never come anywhere close. over 25 years ago my own church committed itself (in addition to its other regular giving) to give 1% for international development - as a prompt and reminder to the Government that BACK THEN had promised to work towards 0.7%

last time I looked it was less than 0.3%

No no no no no we should enhance Trident and not buy it's replacement, scrap the new aircraft carriers bloody white elephants and jobs for the Frenchies, buy off the shelf military equipment (its usually cheaper and actually works), amalgamate the Army, navy, air force into a cohesive defence force and save on overheads that's for starters

Well, hobo - that's what happens when you decide to deregulate capitalism... An appalling decision by first Thatcher - and her ilk world wide - and carried on shamefully by New Labour.

Capitalism is a system of crisis, it's built in, systemic - the evidence spreads, in britain, as the first capitalist nation, over more than three centuries. And an unstable global system of this order, if it is to be controlled, needs a global response. it isn't going to be easy to achieve.

Brown's response imo was right. We might avoid melt down and unemployment approaching 6-7 million because of it. If the tories get in unemployment will increase savagely, i suspect. it's hard to know for sure because they haven't yet told us of any economic policies, apart from stopping millionaires getting taxed on houses when they, sadly, die. like that's the priority...

I despise new labour. I'll vote for them because the alternative is vile.

Good try, but this isn't a Bolton thing. (ie. "It's not just said at this football club"). It is used by almost EVERY manager, pundit, commentator or reporter often several times in one session.

It's just become the fashion over the past 12 months or so. Like there's been a marketing instruction.

Once, or twice & fine, but it's all pervading... and superfluous ... & fckg irritating.

There are probably so much fewer English footy interviews shown in Canadianland that it's less obvious there, but it's coming .... it's coming.
