judge a man by his own actions and words - not by his twitter-fans' twatterings, that's my motto for today!
What, the man who thinks Osama Bin Laden's death was, and I [perhaps somewhat disingenuously] quote, "a tragedy"?!
that would be judging him by your own disingenuous and pretty stupid interpretation of his words - not by his words (which when listened as a whole piece were the very same opinion as I am sure i have heard you express more than once... better to bring a man to trial than summarily assassinate him...)
2) I agree it's better to bring people to trial rather than execute them; however, Bin Laden's death was a tragedy by no meaning of that word I know, and it was politically moronic to describe it as such.
That said I agree the context is important and he was in no way professing support for Bin Laden.Cameron's opportunism was as bankrupt as it was predictable.

Yep, a review lead by a man who is not in favour of the army but in favour of arming the workers to defend the factories.bobo the clown wrote:Haaa. It gets worse. Let's leave NATO.
Jeremy decided during his leadership campaign to put aside hus long held conviction that the UK should leave NATO. His co-opted man on the party's Defence policy review, his chum Ken Livingstone has returned to that view.

John Woodcock's suggestion that he thinks the left are actively seeking to appear ridiculous so to drive out 'mainstream' members" is interesting.
Livingstone is a knob head of the highest order, with pals like this Corbyn must never want to be elected.
Even the brothers are keeping their collective red 'Ed's down at the moment.

no... not then - but back on Friday september 11th, 2015, where you typed this as part of a list of Corbyn's baddest points:Prufrock wrote:In the post that literally said I was quoting him disingenuously and ended in a smiley? no smiley, no acknowledgement of context, no admission of disingenuity.... just - to use your phrase - "bankrupt opportunism". If it is bankrupt opportunism when Cameron does it - then it is bankrupt opportunism when you do it......a man who described the killing of Osama Bin Laden as a tragedy.
He can get to f*ck.
Re: The Politics Thread
Given your case is that Corbyn was unfairly treated because he was quoted selectively and without context, that post^ is spectacular, quoting as it does selectively and without context!thebish wrote:no... not then - but back on Friday september 11th, 2015, where you typed this as part of a list of Corbyn's baddest points:Prufrock wrote:In the post that literally said I was quoting him disingenuously and ended in a smiley? My point then, and now, is that Corbyn was a complete moron who showed an incredible lack of judgement in using the word "tragedy" to describe Bin Laden's death. That was clear from the full quote you selectively cut from (Cameron-esque, bravo) which begins, "I make no apologies for having a "massive hard-on" for a man whose politics are disastrous, morality [sic] questionable and judgement patently awful." followed by a list of criticsisms of Corbyn for each of those reasons.
It's possible it wasn't clear that the "tragedy" criticism was meant to come under "judgement patently awful", but after you replied I helpfully clarified one whole post later with,
"I agree that the aim should have been to capture Osama (so, at least officially, did everyone), but I don't think even Anjem Choudhry is thick enough to use the word "tragedy".
Seriously, how bad does your judgement have to be to come out with that shit?!"
Cameron selectively used Corbyn's "tragedy" quote to paint him as a terrorist sympathiser. I used, and use, it to paint him as a politically naive div with awful judgement who will never be elected because he comes out with things that allow Cameron to paint him as a terrorist sympathiser. So no, it doesn't follow that "If it is bankrupt opportunism when Cameron does it - then it is bankrupt opportunism when you do it..".

Re: The Politics Thread
Can I just add, in its own context, that anybody, anywhere, at any time who feels, for whatever reason, that Osama Bin Laden's death was a tragedy, is in my opinion, a complete, utter, and total prick.
The only tragedy surrounding it was that it took too long to occur. At birth would have been best.

From my new fav. MP Jess Philips on criticism of her for not shutting up about feminism and misogyny in the left:
"I have a cause too. And no, I am not going to shut up about it. Just like our leader didn’t shut up about his for years and years. I respect that. I am not being disloyal. I am being principled. Just call me Jeremy Corbyn."

Nigel Farage urges 'mass protest' at alcohol guidelines
What an absolute fecking bellend this gentleman is. How/why do you protest against what is nothing more than a bit of advice? He's called the new guidelines "Nannying". Err no, you tit, if we're all given weekly alcohol rations then that'd be nannying.

This Dilley geezer, on £100,000 for between 1 and 3 days work a week (when he's not sunbathing in the Caribbean, pretending to be renewing close family ties), is he one of these top people charities are trying to attract?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

she also said it was because of conflict in the party, I think... resigning from the front bench because of conflict in the party seems a tiny bit ironic to me!
