Got the first series of Game of Thrones downloaded. Can anyone save me a wasted hour or two - is it worth it? At first glance it looks like a cross between Harry Potter & The Sopranos.

Hmmm interesting question. I did EPS 1-6 one weekend, but then never really went back to it.Harry Genshaw wrote:Got the first series of Game of Thrones downloaded. Can anyone save me a wasted hour or two - is it worth it? At first glance it looks like a cross between Harry Potter & The Sopranos.
It has lots of tits in it and is worth spending maybe an episode and a half to see if it grabs you - it's a bit of a slow starter (Or EP1 was for me)

...worth it that is, most definitely.

Seconded. Brilliant TV, starts slowly, judge after 4 episodes, by which time you'll love it.General Mannerheim wrote:Yes it fecking isHarry Genshaw wrote:Got the first series of Game of Thrones downloaded. So fit Ruby didn't win?! She made having to sit through that shite on a number of occasions almost bearable!

Saw Captain Phillips last night, pretty decent nail biter! Hanks is good but i dunno where they found the somali actors, they are brilliant.

Just found out that the guys behind Airplane made a film other than Airplane, Airplane 2 and the tv series police squad - Top Secret! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cFSWxzXXOo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My boss has it on dvd and is lending it to me. Watching that over the weekend

Airplane 2 is good, never a patch on the first mind, but police squad is tremendous.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Very true, general - however, despite Airplane!'s superiority over the sequel, I have to say Airplane 2 has one of my favourite sight gags ever

And yes, Police Squad whole thing is on youtube as well, watched it countless times.

Abso-feckin-lutely, it does start off slow, but please bear with it as it becomes addictive. Definitely some of the best TV ever made.Harry Genshaw wrote:Got the first series of Game of Thrones downloaded. Can anyone save me a wasted hour or two - is it worth it? Police Acdamey 1 and 2, we're ok (a little bit dated now) and the rest where awful, but Airplane (1 and 2) are timeless classics. Definitely recommend to watch.Bruce Rioja wrote:Never seen a solitary second of any Airplanes or Police Academies either.
On a side note, watched "Hobo with a shotgun" on Film 4 last week, was surprisingly good even though it was corny as hell.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Okay, okaaaaaay, I'll add the Airplanes to the list.
I believe that there's a chap in Police Academy that imitates various sounds (am I on the right film?)
I saw him doing stand-up in Dublin last year. He was very funny for about 5 minutes but then you're like - yeah, yeah, very clever, mate. Now feck off, you're boring us.
