I'm sure it was on his list of countries visited. So he knows more than most about it.Bruce Rioja wrote:Yeah, yeah.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Got that on reminder, for the Mrs.....Bruce Rioja wrote:Professional Masterchef. Oh yes.
Anyhow, there's something on for Dan, right now. Tales from Northumberland with Robson Green. An eight part series, no less. That should remove any remaining confusion that our lad has about where it is and what it comprises.

Did anyone see Huey Morgan storm off of Buzzcocks last night. There really something that's just mean-spirited about that show. I imagine it takes a hell of a lot to rile Morgan like that, as he is one cool Mo Fo otherwise.

I've watched Buzzcocks since it began. It's had ups & downs but the last series, and especially this one, it's become a parody of itself. I guess it's now produced/directed by someone who doesn't really believe in it.Bruce Rioja wrote:Did anyone see Huey Morgan storm off of Buzzcocks last night. It's a real shame but I fear it's getting to it's sell-by date unless someone returns it to it's basics.
Morgan was clearly pretty badly pissed ... for no clear reason. It did seem that he didn't haave any time for the two dweebs in the chair this week. That said I guess he's rarely not under some chemical influence or other. Jupitus was embarrassed, but he's a senior citizen of the industry and very capable of calming matters down. Instead he just looked down like Dougie explaining another draw at home.
It's live, but recorded, so there was plenty of opportunity to try & sort things out. Maybe, just maybe, it's the kick in the pants that may make people sort things out.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

am feeling a bit bereaved, having just finished the four serieseseses'ses' of "Spiral".. took me a few to get into - but they build the characters well and it turns into some cracking good drama...
(it's on netflix for anyone who has run out of decent drama serials to watch)

I also remember Bill bailey telling Johnny Tourettes he was 'about as punk as Enya' before he unfortunately remained on the show until the bitter end.Chirpy wrote:Always remember him from Ordinary Boys doing something similar when they started reading from his celebrity slag bird's autobiography.

amstell was enjoyable for a couple of episodes - but he did kinda turn it into being a show about him... and he was a bit of a dick - and you could tell that Jupitus was kinda embarrassed by it all...hi there, i'm chris wrote:Remember that. But this is all in the hands of the Director/Producer. They determine the structure of the programme. The guest/guest type. To be fair a number of us have little right to have a view about it now ... it rightly should be targeting a younger demographic. But it still should be quality. It's turned into a show-boating affair for weird chair people and some guests who no-one's ever heard of.

Watched La Délicatesse last night. Typically irreverent French comedy, good without being great but made all the more passable by the lovely Audrey.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Last night I watched Clio Barnard's 'The Arbor', a sort of dramatised documentary account of the life and death of Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar. She famously wrote the play 'Rita, Sue and Bob Too', upon which the film was based and died of a brain haemmorhage aged 29.
It's brilliantly made, tragically sad and explores her life, death, work and the fate of her children.
She has a new film out called 'The Selfish Giant', which is what alerted me to this.

Sat in hospital all day, managed to watch Bad Grandpa on the iPad.
It's unbelievably abysmal.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
It was! I started to, but was interrupted and cut short what I was writing. It was fascinating, gripping and stylistically very interesting. She uses actors lip-synching to real recorded interviews with the members of her family and circle of friends, which gives it a sort of haunted quality that is hard to explain but fits right in with the general mood.Bruce Rioja wrote:Opportunity to trot out "I thought it were bloody great" missed there, LE.LeverEnd wrote:Last night I watched Clio Barnard's 'The Arbor', a sort of dramatised documentary account of the life and death of Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar. The new film has more than a hint of Kes about it apparently, another reason to want to watch it.
