She was, even with the seriously short hair. Then again. Not as fit as the girl playing her daughter.Prufrock wrote:I bet she was still fit.

I watched that last night. Tedious was my overall impression. Not seen her, Bigelow's, other one, so I can't compare, but I'd guess she'll be a one-hit wonder, and ZeroDarkThirty won't be it.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Zero Dark Thirty.......
PS I'm assuming you're already watching and therefore a spoiler alert won't be necessary.

One hit wonder is unfair, assuming by the other one you mean Hurt Locker? Which won best picture at he Oscars but seeing as ZD30 won and was nominated for a hat full of honours it can hardly be construed as a flop - she was also responsible for Point Break back int day which I'd tremendous.
Fwiw tho, I wasn't that taken with ZD30 either...

I know I'm well behind the times - just watched Django - ripping good yarn (apart from all the horrific slave cruelty, that is)...

Phew Bish .... you almost missed the required outrage then !!thebish wrote:I know I'm well behind the times - just watched Django - ripping good yarn (apart from all the horrific slave cruelty, that is)...
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

aye... but then it's hard to miss a runaway slave-fighter being ripped apart by dogs...bobo the clown wrote:Phew Bish .... you almost missed the required outrage then !!thebish wrote:I know I'm well behind the times - just watched Django - ripping good yarn (apart from all the horrific slave cruelty, that is)...
i suppose this is what makes tarantino what he is - humour mixed with proper nasty violence...
also - loved the way they did the soundtrack - some cowboy-esque music and then - out of nowhere - gangsta-rap!

I love Django, especially Sam Jackson in Django, and the Soundtrack - but they could've, should've, lobbed the last 20 minutes off the end of it. All that business with Quentin at the end was a bit pointless.thebish wrote:aye... but then it's hard to miss a runaway slave-fighter being ripped apart by dogs...bobo the clown wrote:Phew Bish .... you almost missed the required outrage then !!thebish wrote:I know I'm well behind the times - just watched Django - ripping good yarn (apart from all the horrific slave cruelty, that is)...

On the basis of that far behind, could I recommend "The Sting" which is very modern (in colour) and The Kid, starring that new up-and-comer Mr Charles Chaplin.thebish wrote:I know I'm well behind the times - just watched Django - ripping good yarn (apart from all the horrific slave cruelty, that is)...
(Actually I've not bothered with Django yet either

Re: What are you watching tonight?
On the recommendations from here I borrowed (thanks Bish) S1 of Game of Thrones. Amazimgly well produced and captured me quickly. I now have bought ... and watched ... both S1 & 2. Loved it and eager to see 3 & 4 despite knowing how the wedding turns out.
I was very surprised at the way the writer despatched even the leading characters without any sentimentality. Makes you feel no-one is safe and so keeps your mind active throughout.
Excellent.

I think this season of Walking Dead has brought it back upto form, 2nd season was a bit too slow and even though I enjoyed the 3rd season, it wasnt brilliant (the first season was amazing). This season though is cracking, especially how the group is falling apart.LeverEnd wrote:It really is superb Bobo.
