Re: The Politics Thread
Excellent article and a welcome change from all the hysteria that's still flying about.
For all this talk of anti semitic remarks I haven't read or heard anything in this latest round that I found to be anti semitic. Undoubtedly, people (on both sides of the debate) often transpose Israeli & Jew and that isn't and shouldn't be acceptable but I hope to God this latest reaction doesn't stop reasonable folk from calling Israel to account for their persistent breaches of international law & human rights abuses.

May I just point out here that I haven't a fecking clue as to who, what or where 'Zion' is, except for it being the place where iron lions come from, according to Bob Marley and his Wafers.
Anyone else?
Anyone else?

basically and simply = biblical synonym for Jerusalem.
for Bob Marley - and rastas - it is the utopia that is the opposite of "Babylon" - where the bad stuff lives zion=peace/freedom/drug-induced mellowness / Babylon=exploitative material world (essentially - biblical language)
ZionISM = provision/protection-of/expansion of state for Israel...
Re: The Politics Thread
today Zac is mostly delivering the milk - blissfully unaware, it seems, that this does not make him look like an earthy man of the people as only the mega-posh get tbheir milk delivered in bottles to the doorstep nowadays.. also - doing it from the back of a posh car spoils the cheeky cockerny early-morning delivery wagon idyll...

Most of my neighbours and all of the people that my farmer mate delivers milk to (along with eggs, cream, orange juice and potatoes).thebish wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:What absolute twaddle, man! I'm sure that there's plenty to criticise Zac about without having to make stuff up.

Yes. The local milkman's float makes a fecking racket as it wends its way down the close with the sound of glass milk bottles banging about.thebish wrote:I'd be very surprised if many ordinary folk had their milk delivered in bottles on their doorsteps in that there London.... that's a site that only you posh people would know about!

apparently (according to Dairy Crest) - delivery used to account for 85% of milk bought, it's now 8%
did you do your research on Zac, btw?

Re: The Politics Thread
I can well believe it. When I used to work on our family's milkround it was so competitive that whenever anyone new moved into the area all the local farmers/milkmen would offer them a period of free milk (for up to 12 weeks if they were a big family).thebish wrote: apparently (according to Dairy Crest) - delivery used to account for 85% of milk bought, it's now 8%
As I say, most of my neighbours have their milk delivered, but they're mainly of a certain age so I assume that they always have.

ahh - you said earlier you were gonna read up on him...
tbh - I don't know why politicians agree to do these stupid publicity photo-opportunities - science has proven that in 99% of them they just end up looking like tw&ts... (FACT!)

I did but my eyes glazed over when it came down to it.
You can have a look round his drum here though. Not a bottle of milk to be seen.

Edit - I've just had a quick glance at his Wiki page. One of his children is listed as being called 'Thyra'. Now then, Bish - you christen/baptise folk, have you ever named one Thyra? I mean, what breed is a Thyra?
