No, but how many hundreds of thousands of our 'youth' are going to be migrating to the EU for all the jobs it provides? Because that's what they are being sold by remain, and I was merely pointing out all the affordable housing in 'developing' countries like Bulgaria etc.

Re: The Politics Thread
It's the fact that you associate where you live with where you work. I live in the UK but generally don't work within 200 miles of where I live and often not in the same country. That doesn't mean I want to move. There seems to be quite a few on here that do similar. The thought that you move house with every 12 month assignment is just stupid, but I'd expect no less.Hoboh wrote:Worthy4England wrote:Do you own a corner shop or something? Just have to add a note here: Flat caps (better known as "ratters", were once the height of sartorial elegance (not for too long mind) along with yellow scarves and driving gloves. Fortunately, I was scooter riding at the time.

Shockingly an MP, Jo Cox, has been shot in Birstall and is in critical condition. Alas, not only in America...

Just between leeds and Bradford. She's known for her work to help the humanitarian crisis in Syria and Maria Eagle has tweeted that the man who shot her shouted 'Britain First', but it's unconfirmed. Let's hope she recovers. Mother of 2.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Shockingly an MP, Jo Cox, has been shot in Birstall and is in critical condition. Alas, not only in America...

Paragraph from Alex Massie's Spectator piece, since removed, on Jo Cox and the UKIPs that resonates big time.
Also, if you retain any faith whatsoever in humanity, I'd advise against searching Twitter for "Jo Cox false flag"

I wasn't going to get involved, but the blatant use of this tragedy for political motives, stinks!

Re: The Politics Thread
I suspect this tragedy will have a significant impact on voter patterns, though it may take years for sociologists to analyze the full nature of the effect. Of course this is unfortunate, but not as unfortunate as a young and important life cut short.Hoboh wrote:I think some people moved into the world of very tasteless, dubious and frankly disgusting realm of desperation yesterday!Prufrock wrote:https://t.co/2N4pT1HzOP

Re: The Politics Thread
I'll be truthful though, when the news began to filter through my immediate presumption was that it would be an ISIS supporting fanatic. In a way it matters not who it was, it's a horrible thing to happen but that would have fed people's (including my) preconceptions.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yep, but instead it seems to have been right wing terrorism.

I'm sure it would have all been passed straight over had he been Polish/Bulgarian/Syrian and hollered "I love Europe".
