Quite right, Brother Hoboh - We don't want any folks just spouting all sorts of bollocks, now do we?Hoboh wrote:before you go accusing anyone of not understanding anything I'd suggest you do some looking into what you are talking about.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:The Commission get to propose stuff, administer stuff and enforce directives/legislation. You don't seriously thing MEP's influence anything in the EU do you?
That's the business of the commission, the EU parliament is little more than a rubber stamp and talking shop.![]()
You've clearly been bemoaning something for at least a decade without understanding what it is you're bemoaning. Next you'll be moaning about civil servants having more influence than MPs...

I used to work for the EU. I think I might know a little about it.Hoboh wrote:before you go accusing anyone of not understanding anything I'd suggest you do some looking into what you are talking about.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:The Commission get to propose stuff, administer stuff and enforce directives/legislation. The gaffers being the council, who are...your elected PM.boltonboris wrote:MEP's are just little statues placed in there to make it look like the gaffers give a fvck
Just to add that the Parliament has the power to kick the Commission lot out with a simple 2/3s majority vote. Completely powerless

HIGNFY:

After the UK votes to "take back control", 330 Tory MPs decide which 2 candidates 0.2% of the population will vote for to be PM.

Did Liam Fox honestly think he had a chance of winning it, or was he just asked to pad the numbers out?

Haha, we were just saying this at work today. One of my colleagues was asking in a very round about way as to his chances of a promotion. I said "What he's trying to say is 'am I Liam Fox?'".

Re: The Politics Thread
Presumably Hoboh has gone off to look into what he's talking about. I mean, it would be very unusual for a Brexiter to bugger off half way through with no intention of finishing what they started...Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I used to work for the EU. Chilcot says there was no need to go to war in March 2003.
Blair “overestimated his ability” to influence US decisions on Iraq, Chilcot says
Chilcot says UK was fighting campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time when it did not have the resources to do so
Chilcot says the inquiry does not accept Blair’s claim that it was impossible to predict post-invasion problems
Chilcot says Blair presented the intelligence about Iraq’s WMD 'with a certainty that was not justified'
Chilcot says without evidence of major new Iraqi violations, most UN security council members were not convinced peaceful alternatives to war had been exhausted.
He says Blair and Bush blamed France for obstructing action. They said France was undermining the UN security council’s authority.
Chilcot says his inquiry concluded it was America and Britain who were undermining the authority of the UN security council, because they pushed for military action when peaceful alternatives had not been exhausted.
