Axman's from Buxton. That line's a sure-fire winner around those parts. Well, it was when I went to the Buxton Opera HouseGooner Girl wrote: He wasn't trying to chat me up!

Re: The athletics/running thread

Axman - your marathon time is freakin awesome. I was chatting to a guy at track tonight who's doing London as well and he asked if I fancied joining him on his next 18-20 miler. I was really up for it as some of them long runs can get quite dreary on your own. Then he told me the time he's aiming for (sub 3 hours

How did your mates Bob Graham round go?

5km tonight, time 27.00 dead so not super speedy, but considering last weeks run, it felt much better and we ran twice as far...

Perhaps you should be running with me given you can't hack the pace at your own club?!

Besides, if you run with me i'll give you a scintillating break down of every goal Robin Van Persie has ever scored! What more could you want?!

Re: The athletics/running thread
We've not done it yet. It's going to be the end of June start of July (either from midnight Fri 29th or from midnight Sat 30th or midnight Sun 1st, depending on which day nearer the time looks best for weather - from the pub celebration perspective it'd be best on the Friday/Saturday evening drink). We've now got a full complement of runners [2] and pacers [4]. I've practised my section a couple of times and am raring to go. If I'm feeling good on the day I might push on after my section and try for a ¾ BG (but probably not).Harry Genshaw wrote:![]()

I'll have to think up excuses for the next few weeks to avoid it!

Did our Sport Relief "mile" thing on Sunday. 5.6km apparently. 28.19 for me. Have a whole load of excueses ready to trot out, but actually quite relieved to get round alive, given my less than ideal "preparation" in the bar on Friday and Saturday night (and day).

Good luck, take it easy - even if you feel ok (you already know that!)Gary the Enfield wrote:Going to try 2 miles tonight. Wish me luck.
Need me there to talk you through every goal Ian Wright ever scored for arsenal to give you a pleasent distraction from any potential pain?!

that's over THREE miles!!!Winter Hill White wrote:Did our Sport Relief "mile" thing on Sunday. 5.6km apparently. 28.19 for me. Re: The athletics/running thread
perhaps not a great idea - as USUALLY - sequences of games for RVP end in mysterious season-ending injuries....Gooner Girl wrote:You started it! And hmmm, maybeHarry Genshaw wrote:Miaowww! Re: The athletics/running thread
I tried two replies to this, GG but neither took. Probably the amount of expletives in it made the site crash!Gooner Girl wrote:Good luck, take it easy - even if you feel ok (you already know that!)Gary the Enfield wrote:Going to try 2 miles tonight. Wish me luck.

Managed three miles. 12 minutes out and 11 back. Average pace 7.45 min. per mile.
This morning I have an ache but no real pain. Physio on Saturday booked and then I'll look at doing 6 miles. Fingers crossed.

I felt very comfortable, Bish. Knowing it was only going to be a short run I upped the pace. I was pleased to note I haven't lost much fitness (swimming and the gym have helped) but need to get my mileage up sharpish!

The expletives being because you couldn't control your excitement at the fun we were going to have on our run?Gary the Enfield wrote:I tried two replies to this, GG but neither took. Glad it went well, though you said you were doing 2 miles not 3 - and pushing it quite fast too... Be careful!

I thought you were going to talk about Ian Wright?
I did say I would do 2. Once I started though the run kept expanding and I reckon I could have done much more. I forced myself to run back at a strategic point (not the least reason being two lycra clad lovelies who ran past me in the opposite direction two minutes previously and the objective was to catch them by a certain point). I didn't, but I ran a negative split. Women, they have their uses!

You're supposed to be taking it easy not running extra fast so so you can perve at semi clad ladies! Its your own fault if that piriformis comes back!
(and you know a talk on Ian Wrights Arsenal goals would heave been fascinating, deep down. You just don't want to admit it to yourself...)

I saw Ian Wright beat Cliff Bastin's goalscoring record, at Highbury, sat with the home fans. He scored a hat-trick that day. A repeat of that nauseating experience I do not want.
As for the scantily clad females......

I promise I'll be good from now on. Possibly
