Until they get it all live and you can pick yer stage using the red button, it's always going to be a bit like that FD. Best bet is grab a ticket and goFD wrote:The worst thing in the world is where there is a band audibly live in the background, one you like...they MENTION it, you can even hear the song they are playing and then they cut to someone earlier in the day.
It's awful coverage, awful.

Then you can grumble about them scheduling your two favourite bands on different stages at the same time - muppets.

Agree about the shite coverage. Maybe I'm just being unlucky. Last night all I wanted to see was Doves and the brilliant Fleet Foxes and all they seemed to be showing over and over were Lilly Allen, Little Boots and Lady fecking GaGa. Tonight I want a bit of Kasabian and Franz Ferdinand but keep seeing Pendulum and their noise that falls into the genre of drum 'n' bass. Bah.

Must be said that the coverage seems worse than it has been over the past couple of years. Franz Ferdinand on BBC3 now, sounding as flat as a fart if truth be told. But there seems less stuff about the festival, more guff about the hosts' experiences and not much else.
As for W4E's idea about the red button, I believe I mentioned that very idea to a friend's wife who had happened to work for the BBC at that time, and it was probably the best part of 5 or 6 years ago. Would have thought it had happened by now.
Dizzee sounded pretty good earlier on, but from what else I've seen has been nothing short of insipid. I usually find a band each day I've never heard of and think "blimey, they sound pretty good". No-one in two days. Although I did fall in love with the lead singer of The Ting Tings last night.
Good God, Pendulum. Noise. Strobes. Nothing else. Thought I heard the tune from the old Peugeot adverts in there, but quite indecipherable.

Speaking of lady ShiteShite, I think it's a bit dubious to have called that a "live" performance.jimbo wrote:Agree about the shite coverage. Maybe I'm just being unlucky. Sure, her mic was on...but...jesus...people paid a lot money and thats it?
Regarding Florence, I saw her do a live session about a year back and thought there was some real potential, but seeing her today, the songs sounds quite far from those performances and sadly aren't my cup of tea.
Had a hard week so ended up falling asleep, so recorded as much of the coverage as I could find, looking forward to catchingi t today.
Oh and I don't like the band, but the singer from the ting tings has a superb arse.

Not actually Glastonbury, but I had to say that Neil Young at Hyde Park on Saturday was superb. Possibly the best gig I've been to so far this year. Certainly up there.
And an entertaining cameo guest spot from Paul McCartney at the end. Made even better by someone just by me shouting for "The girl is mine". I can see Neil Young doing the Michael Jackson bits perfectly...

Always regret never having the chance to see Neil Young live. Twice I've had tickets and both gigs were canceled once because of a throat infection (didn't see how it could effect his voice much) and once the concert was canceled because of the death of the King's mother.Puskas wrote:Not actually Glastonbury, but I had to say that Neil Young at Hyde Park on Saturday was superb. Did bump into him once though. I accidentally hit him with a ski while walking down the hall of a ski resort in Oregon. I apologized quickly skirted off to my room to dump off my stuff so I could come out and act like a stupid fan. Unfortunately he was nowhere to be seen.

A load of journos who were there to work were complaining in't papers that he played "too long". Ha.FD wrote:I thought the Boss was incredible!! As good as, if not better than, Radiohead in 97.
Might be one of the best TV-Live gigs I've ever seen.
Don't think the paying punters were complaining though. Apart from those that don't like him, in which case why watch.......

He was pretty good, I thought Rockin the Free World went into the odd one or two, too many endings though...BWFC_Insane wrote:Neil Young was great at Glasto too!Puskas wrote:Not actually Glastonbury, but I had to say that Neil Young at Hyde Park on Saturday was superb. They're probably long term pi$$ed off, as he often does 3 hours or so....BWFC_Insane wrote:A load of journos who were there to work were complaining in't papers that he played "too long". Ha.FD wrote:I thought the Boss was incredible!! As good as, if not better than, Radiohead in 97.

Lets put it this way, I'd heard that Bruce does 3 hour gigs, but also that tickets for this tour were around £80.
I was disgusted at the price, it's extortion I thought.
Then I saw his Glasto performance, (twice now in fact) and I would pay that without even worrying.
It's not often (especially given todays modern "don't give a feck" musical attitude on stage) you see someone put that much into a performance, it's not often you hear a band that are that tight, that together (and yeah, time has something to do with it) but good lord, the moment it finished I wanted to go listen to his music again. Moreover though, he looked like he truly was loving every moment, just as everyone else watching, there or otherwise were.
I'm a muso myself (or, I was) having recorded 3 CDs worth of studio albums, and it's not often I get this gushing, this "blown away" feeling, buy by God Bruce blew me out of the water, and I know I'm not alone, at work everyone who'd seen it were saying how they had their mouths agape watching this incredible performance.
He did break curfew though, which was an awesome moment between him and his guitarist :
"It's curfew time!!"
..."What?"
"ITS CURFEW TIME!!"
...."nah nah nah"
"I'm telling ya, ITS CURFEW TIME!!!"
...."F*CK THE CURFEW"
....a bit more music...then a pause, mid song...
"...what time is it" (says Bruce)
"I T S B O S S T I M E !!!" (says his guitarist)
ROCK!
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing.
