Ah yes, how can we forget the dunderhead revealing his 'Just Done It' T-shirt, when he'd done nothing of the sort?

May the bridges I burn light your way

In my experience endurance runners never listen to coaches advice when told to 'take it easy.' I don't think the phrase is in their vocabulary!Gary the Enfield wrote:

As for the scantily clad females......![]()
I promise I'll be good from now on. Possibly
Why are you confused about the scantily clad females?
And lucky you seeing Ian Wright break the goal scoring record (i hope you didn't laugh when he got confused and whipped his shirt off one goal before he should have done!)

Its ok GtE, to make up for the disapointment of not hearing about every goal he ever scored i will lend you my signed copy of his autobiography to read. You need to be very careful with it though, it saysGary the Enfield wrote:Gooner Girl wrote:So he went and scored another against you just to make sure!Bruce Rioja wrote:Gary the Enfield wrote: I saw Ian Wright beat Cliff Bastin's goalscoring record, at Highbury, sat with the home fans. The message to you is probably all he wrote of that book. And thanks, but no thanks. Although they do say sitting on a hard book can help with the piriformis so can I change my mind? Promise I won't pump.

Guess it might be a tad too advanced for you GtE, thinking about it. Jessie and Jack's copy of 'Spot the dog' is winging its way to Enfield now instead. perhaps more your reading level (judging by your scrabble performanceGary the Enfield wrote:Gooner Girl wrote:Its ok GtE, to make up for the disapointment of not hearing about every goal he ever scored i will lend you my signed copy of his autobiography to read. Anyway, back to athletics, you're gonna have to work fast now to get the miles under your belt for London, even if your piriformis doesn't flare up again. Can you do it in time?

I will be doing London. I may not get the sub 3:45 I wanted but I am still aiming for sub 4 hours. So long as I can get to the starting line on the day I'll make it round. This much I am certain of.

Re: The athletics/running thread
I don't think it's achilles - the pain is down the outside of the ankle and is silmilar to the pain I had a few weeks ago below the right knee at the top of the shin. Doc said that was tendon so I am assuming the same.
First one cleared up after 2 weeks - I am hoping this one will be quicker as it's hard to keep starting from scratch again. It's my own fault as it was sore after Tuesday's run and I knew I should've rested it.
Rest till Monday and see how I feel.

Could be shin splints, if you're a keen runner. They feck up some of the nerves too, so you can never pinpoint exactly where it hurts.

Yes.
Try R.I.C.E.
Rest. Ice. Compress. Elevate.
Rest it as much as you can.
Put ice on it for the first 24 hours (3 sessions per day at 3X 5minute intervals).
Wear compression socks or a tubigrip to support it.
Lie on the couch and raise your leg higher than your heart relative to the floor. That way the blood is forced up into the leg and the increased bloodflow promotes healing.
Good luck Willy
