Re: Today I'm angry about.....
The number of empty shops and cheap tat shops, charity shops, tattoo and sunbed parlors and nail empires should provide clues to what's wrong with Bolton. The council planners built a monster swimming baths in the town centre..than demolished it and now it's a giant petrol station. They "modernised" the Market Hall and took its character and facilities away and filled it with more empty shops. They demolished the Odeon and made a skateboard park, and what that mass of empty flats where Walkers Tannery used to be is all about nobody seems to know? All the pubs are closing one by one and the main priority right now with this interchange will probably be not to get people to come in to Bolton's attractions, but to get Bolton people to Bury and Manchester while Bolton dies a slow death around it all. The "Welcome to Bolton" one-way street out of it is typical of our town planners foresight. Just what has Bolton got to attract people here anymore?

I know that they built a load of student flats on the old Edbro land at the side of the Cattle Market, so maybe something to do with them, but I haven't been down Nelson Street in years.TANGODANCER wrote:Any clue about those flats on the Tanery site?.........anybody?Bruce Rioja wrote:^^ Has anyone been to Ashburner Street Market since they fettled it? Bristling, me. fecking bristling. Michel Roux Jnr's leaving Masterchef - The Professionals because the BBC don't like the fact that he advertises someone's spuds. Do people at the BBC know absolutely nothing about commercial environments? Wankers. I bet he takes Monica with him too, then I'll be double bristling. In fact, who do I write to? Is it still Marmaduke Hussey?

I find it as strange as you/everyone here, but one thing I have heard is that a mate who went to the World Cup was told by their landlord to "never ever ever get up at night", so common are armed burglars and the armed response to them.Bruce Rioja wrote:I haven't been following it that closely either, but is he really saying that he thought that he was being burgled by someone that had sneaked into his bedroom to take a shit in his en suite? Really?

The bit that sounds daft is the 'what are they doing in the bathroom?' bit, but then a burglar wouldn't know it was the shitter I guess.
I have no idea whether he did it.

Of course we know he DID IT .... just wondering if he knew WHO he was shooting. Even if he didn't there doesn't seem much doubt he shot a person several times in a locked room with no alternative exit. I don't know the SA attitude or law to excessive force but I'd have thought Manslaughter due to it was the best fall-back he could hope for.
At least here we don't have to fear a personality impressed jury a-la OJ Simpson.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

In SA it is shoot and ask questions later. Violence there is pretty extreme, so generally people don't feck about when it comes to protecting themselves. Personally I have my doubts about his innocence. Something just doesn't sit right for me.bobo the clown wrote:... but this 'burglar' then locked the door ?Prufrock wrote:The bit that sounds daft is the 'what are they doing in the bathroom?' bit, but then a burglar wouldn't know it was the shitter I guess.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
They were arguing beforehand, which always suggests trouble, but given he's got money, attitude, an inflated ego, a libido the size of a small planet, no legs, form with guns, fame in a authority can't touch me because I'm white, disabled and rich living in a gated environment, + he's a definite cock, etc.. I don't think motive is very difficult to suss at all. He did it because he had a childish tantrum and expects to get away with it. He's lying through his arse, and it's obvious.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Motive?Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Good job I'm not the judge. Guilty as hell for me.

I'd love for him to perform this womanly scream his defence team have come up with, live. Bet he can't.

Yep. I bet it took some persuading to let the guy present that defence.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I'd love for him to perform this womanly scream his defence team have come up with, live. Bet he can't.
The defence barrister seems intent on squirreling tiny doubts in each and every point made. Not actively disproving anything (I'm not sure he can) just putting forward vague, and often implausible, 'doubts'. I know it's his role, but it's tedious and really will-o-the-wisp stuff.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Well, I've just read the BBC summary of the case so far. Still no idea whether or not he did it (murder her, smart arses!).
Of course the witnesses so far all make him look bad, the prosecution are making their case, they're hardly going to be putting forward someone who says he was a charming chap who never done it.
All this talk about the scream. I'm not convinced on its own by the testimony of someone who had only just woken up. Be interesting to see the defence really push their point that RS physically couldn't have made that scream.
Not sure of the reliability of the witness when it's the ex-girlfriend he cheated on with RS!
Not sure what the point of all this 'was he wearing his stumps when he broke down the door' 'no he wasn't' stuff is given the prosecution appear to accept it happened AFTER the shots were fired.
Unsure about the friend's testimony about the guns. Apparently he's going to deny shooting the traffic light, and says his friend taking the rap for the restaurant was the friend's idea. First bit, no idea, second sounds unlikely but not implausible (he's famous, friend wants to get in his good books).
Number of people 'convinced' really highlights the danger of trial by media for me, as you can barely begin to make a decision until you've heard both sides.
