Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Dan, if I were you, I'd look for jobs in London (keep looking up north as well). A couple of years experience in a London accountancy firm, living in a cheap flat share will set you up for the future, whilst enabling you to live and have a bit of a social life. Most folk that move to London start in a less salubrious area, sharing a crappy flat, living on cheap beer and takeaways. It is a right of passage and allows you to appreciate stuff more in the future.
Forget the football for now. The decisions you take now are what will largely determine your future. The most important thing is a job so you can live and experience/qualifications to set you up for your career. If you have to, take a job in the post room of an accountancy firm and keep studying. A foot in the door and the right attitude will take you places. Even if you have to live in zone 6 with a Spurs fan and a One Direction groupie, just do it (lock your door though). If you put football first at this stage of your life then you're going to struggle to achieve what you want. Get the job and career, go to a few games where you can. You can then move/get a season ticket etc when you're in a better position in life.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Im only planning to do 5 away games next season anyhow. Its more I want to live in Horwich even if I cant afford a season ticket, none the less I will take action to some action to look for job in the south east. I could always live in a beach hut in Clacton as the rents there are nearly as cheap as Bolton/Horwich, then I wouldn't have to share with any one direction groupies/ Spurs fans. However living/working in London is the last thing I want to do as I would rather live/work literally anywhere else in England (yes even Burnley). I will continue looking for work in the North West but will also pursue jobs in Oxford and Reading as well as other places in the South East, just not that London.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

When does this bit end?!

You get the gold star of the day award.
Can someone explain to me how you afford to buy a house as a new buyer in London? I can only assume it involves a massive mortgage and huge government subsidy?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

House prices there skew the whole UK economy. They govern interest rate policy, they lead to enormoys hardships and also enormous access to funds for many. Leads to an industry of "buy to let" and far too many affording the rents only via housing benefit support.Lord Kangana wrote:You get the gold star of the day award.

All based on enormous debt fuelled by the unstinting belief that the prices will always rise. What I call a "souffle economy" .... liable to collapse the moment someone loses their nerve. However, despite occasional bursting of bubbles they DO always recover.
I declined a move South many moons ago as the equivilant house to my own at that time would have been £44,000 as opposed to £25,000. What a mistaka to maka. (arguably)
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

You'd be missing out. London is a great place to live, despite what some folk would have you believe. It isn't for everyone, but it is a worthwhile experience for any youngster and has the bonus of being a great job market of you have the right skills.bwfcdan94 wrote:Im only planning to do 5 away games next season anyhow. Pru - some never grow out of the cheap beer n takeaways! For me it was when I moved to the countryside, though I've always preferred decent beer to cheap beer

As someone in the "anti" camp, I'd also say give it a try. I'd be more reticent to suggest you'd be missing out though.

It's easy. Poison your parents and grandparents who have houses in London already.Lord Kangana wrote:You get the gold star of the day award.

Back up ^ somewhere, Dan.
I was using the bank I chose purely for income purposes with no intention of making a career of the job. Then I found that I liked it. The customer contact I very much enjoyed. Ergo twenty-six years later (as a bank manager and after many intermediate roles) I tossed it in.
There you go, my cyber friend.
As my last comment, Dan: As I and others have stressed, do your best to get your qualifications and do not let your love of football rule your life.
What was I doing at your age? An interesting question. Well, I was working full time as a 'junior' in a bank. I was doing an accountancy course via correspondence. I worked Saturdays and Sundays at a garage. My first fortnightly pay at the bank was £9/19/6 and the garage paid me 10/- a day. Prior to that I'd done a heap of money-earning. Caddying at the local golf course used to bring in 12/- a day plus a salad roll and bottle of cola at the 9th. I soon learned the ropes and found that I knew where most of the duffers (this was a snooty expensive private club - Pymble if you're interested) tended to lose their golf balls. Once a week I'd scour the rough, creeks, dam etc. and, thinking back, earn an average of around £2/10/- selling them to the pro-shop. As a school boy I bred white mice, budgerigars, quail and finches to sell for profit. Like yourself, Dan, my family wasn't all that well off. Once I started in the bank I was required (and willing) to pay board. The bank was not my first choice for a career as I was keen on being a draughtsman; I was usually first or second in my school exams. That didn't work out as after many applications, door knocking and telephone conversations there were no jobs going for tyros. I had to do something so I applied to various banks for a job. Lo and behold I was accepted by most of them!bwfcdan94 wrote:I live there because that is where my sister younger sister and my dad lives(although he is very rarely home) but when they move I wont be going with them. When I say an ideal job it refers to any and every low level accountancy role as that is what I am qualified to do, I don't apply for roles unless I know I can do everything on the job spec. Out of interest what motivated you when you were my age? For the football games bit I would say only is an exaggeration but it is certainly the main thing that motivates me, infact its the what I look forward to most. Why do you think I hate Summer so much? it's because there is no football and its to hot and cricket never has been the same a football.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
You have had what sounds like a very interesting and exciting career and life Dujon. Sounds like you are probably blessed with a bit more intelligence then myself but none the less you have worked very hard from a young age to get success. I probably allocate myself less social time than most people of my age do as I am of the opinion that whatever you do in life if your not going to give 110% then what is the point in doing it at all, if I fail at anything I like to know there is nothing more I could have done. I will carry on with the course and carry on job hunting although I will have to take drastic action come September if I am still out of work.Dujon wrote:Back up ^ somewhere, Dan.What was I doing at your age? My rage is bouncing uncomfortably between the spectacular incompetence of Virgin Trains, who manage time and again to reset the bar of ineptitude; the awful language used by train companies in general; and. the inability of people to control the little shits they've spawned.

drove from Middlesbrough back down to torquay today - bank holiday - fortunately there is a lot more traffic coming OUT of the south west than trying to get in!
anyway - every service station i stopped at - totally over-run with mewling, out-of-control, stir-crazy kids... I was beginning to suspect that going to the service station WAS their holiday...

hmmm... Hartlepool is further up than Middlesbrough - Middlesbrough being the place where Teesside University is...bwfcdan94 wrote:

dropping my son off at Teesside Uni and then coming home to Torquay would not involve driving through Hartlepool...
Re: Today I'm angry about.....
I thought you used to live in 'Artlepool? Is Middlesbrough still the same as it was in November?

I did once live in Hartlepool - but that doesn't mean that every place I drive to is Hartlepool...bwfcdan94 wrote:I thought you used to live in 'Artlepool? Is Middlesbrough still the same as it was in November?
No - Middlesbrough is different than it was in November - it's Spring and the trees are budding... also the bulbs are up...
