We can't be worried about that now. War is about to break out!thebish wrote:it seems that this "build a new hospital every week" revolution won't be happening anytime soon... apparently we were fools if we thought anything would change overnight... but we have got our country back... yay... errr... and the markets might crash - but they are still OUR markets and we can be proud - we just need to be calm and all get behind Big Dave...

Even Farage conceded defeat at one point. I did say they were flimsy signs.Bruce Rioja wrote:About these signs.......BWFC_Insane wrote: They are the signs that are there. Another on the day poll says 8 point lead for remain.
Surprised the markets who commissioned exit polls got it so wrong.
However, overall not hugely surprised at the result.

To be honest I thought it would be this close, just the other way. Weren't the exit polls as glaringly wrong at the last GE?BWFC_Insane wrote:Even Farage conceded defeat at one point. Yeah I predicted a 1 or 2 percent remain win but these things can go either way.Bruce Rioja wrote:To be honest I thought it would be this close, just the other way. This was a hard one for pollsters and predicting turnout accurately, as in who would turn out and who wouldn't was very difficult.

Farage has already said the promise of the £350M a week the leave campaign said would be saved and instead be spent on the NHS was a 'mistake' and it won't happen.
Lol.
Lol.

Glad it's done n'over. Always believed when you've made your mind up to leave someplace, fast as practicable works best.
Well be delighted with all the benefits when they arrive.

aye.. though I hear that Gove and co. are muttering in a corner that we should maybe delay pressing the button until after french and german elections...
I can't see cameron waiting long, though - surely he'll press the button then shuffle off the stage leaving the microphone for Bozza...

If I was he, I think I'd press it just before I resigned in about 10 minutes.
Re: Brexit or Britin
Surprised how many of the outer politicians don't actually seem to want to leave. Big gamble that the EU will suddenly decide to go back to the EEC!
I think we'll be worse off, significantly. But everything isn't going to set on fire. I think essentially it'll be reet. Which is concerning, because my predictions recently have been bobbins!
Worst thing about it is that we're now going to keep hearing the ghastly word "brexit" for ever more.

Cameron has resigned.
New PM by October. Oh goody an unelected Tory PM. Cannot wait....

Re: Brexit or Britin
Good to see an unelected representative claiming victory in an election and calling for the government to fall.
Which, if you think about his argument, and I've never accused his supporters of thinking before, is pretty much an endorsement of the status quo, isn't it?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

meanwhile, this once-in-a-generation scottish referendum that we had last year....
Former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond tells BBC Radio 5 live that Scotland’s position in the EU has been “fundamentally jeopardised” and they should have another independence referendum “within the context of “two and a half years”.

Re: Brexit or Britin
On top of the above, the PLP are allegedly plotting a coup against Jeremy. I thought I'd seen a lot of Chukka Umunna this week.
Mixed news for us already in the Bob household. We bought our Yen for next week's trip on Wednesday at 147 to the pound. This morning, its at 121 and falling. Result.
On the other hand................ In a rather weird twist of timing, last night we had a phone call from a Portugese lawyer asking if we wanted to buy a plot of land we have expressed an interest in . In the last 12 hours, the price has gone up about 15%. I'm hoping once the speculators have played their games today, next week will see the Euro start to weaken.

Re: Brexit or Britin
^^ You toddle off to your referendum result poll and factor that into your wins and losses on the money side - do I get my pint before or after we trigger article 50?
Don't see how Corbyn can remain if Labour has any chance of doing anything at all, but that statement wasn't dependent on this result. Chukka Umunna is fecking useless too.

Fear not, all those folks who couldn't get a job because of all the immigrants, will undoubtedly fill the void.Bruce Rioja wrote:The prospect of having to wash my own car is sitting heavily with me.Worthy4England wrote: Well be delighted with all the benefits when they arrive.
