It Follows. Been looking forward to this for ages and it didn't let me down, probably my favourite film if the year so far. really slick & stylish with a unnerving retro synth soundtrack, and super creepy! Properly freaked me out actually. Great film

Managed to watch this over the weekend as it turned out. Really interesting i thought, particular as i'd never heard of him before. Had one hell of a life, it seems, burning several bridges along the way.KeyserSoze wrote:The very same. The name comes from the sign he has on the entrance to his house in South Africa. Judging from the trailer he isn't exactly a particular nice guy...Bruce Rioja wrote:I haven't, Kinty, but I can stick it on the list. I take it that 'Mr Baker' is a reference to Ginger Baker, no?KeyserSoze wrote:Have you seen 'Beware of Mr Baker' Bruce? I haven't, but tis another movie about a drummer that's got great reviews. A doc, not a drama, though.Bruce Rioja wrote:Really enjoyed this. I do love a story of an aspiring musician anyway, but when you throw in a cultured Don Logan style character as well, then yes, count me in. Definitely worth a watch.Bruce Rioja wrote:The GM recommended 'Whiplash' is on its way. Simmer down, you boys at the back - it's about a drummer.

the trio who were Cream were, to be frank, not the most pleasant three guys you'd ever meet. All addicted, all obsessive and all users of other people around them. Jack Bruce was probably the most pleasant.KeyserSoze wrote:Managed to watch this over the weekend as it turned out. Really interesting i thought, particular as i'd never heard of him before. The music is quite another matter of course.

I think we've heard enough of your potentially-website-destryingly-libellous views on Clapton before, thanks
!
Or was that Elvis Costello?!

Elvis Costello simply looks like someone you'd not let babysit your kids, that's all.Prufrock wrote:I think we've heard enough of your potentially-website-destryingly-libellous views on Clapton before, thanks!

I refer you to this if you want convincing ... https://www.google.co.uk/search?newwind ... vx6DIduCY8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Eric Clapton, & I have over 60 albums with him involved, so I admire his playing, is as per his own autobiography and confirmed in the autobiography of his (& several other people's) ex-wife, Patti Boyd is a deeply selfish and uncaring bloke. Maybe that's part & parcel of being so successful in an industry which is artistic, but deeply competitive and would spit you out as soon as look at you. But his addictive, obsessive, narcissistic and selfish personality are not becoming traits.

He was in PiL in the 80's...and I've just spotted, Hawkwind - although he wasn't in there when I saw them.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
A mate of a mate, who is the campest, gayest Bear on Earth (Mate's mate, not my mate, not that it would matter etc. etc.) has an apartment in NYC and Elvis Costello is his neighbour. So, of course, I asked him' what's it like living next door to EC?' He pondered for a moment, and bear in mind it was around Christmas time, he then answered in a tone that I can only describe as 'effeminate indignation' - "You know - He has the most fecking awful fairy lights that I've ever seen"bobo the clown wrote: Elvis Costello simply looks like someone you'd not let babysit your kids, that's all.
Thought I'd share that with you.

Don't have Sky- all I'd want is the football, and I'd rather go to the pub anyway - but recently decided to have a do at Netflix. Had Lovefilm for a couple of years, and held off on Netflix because I didn't want to pay for both and whilst Netflix has more stuff, I like having Amazon Prime (which comes with Lovefilm) and I like being sent a random disk that makes me watch films I might otherwise not quite get round to.
So...Our kid got Netflix the other week, and with it he can register up to four screens at once. So between him, me and my missus we're now paying £3 per month and have all the telly I've ever wanted! It's f*cking mint! Had a few days off work recently and spent the whole time re-watching over and over again The Office and Alan Partridge. They reckon they've got new stuff too, but I'm not there yet.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
yes its marvelous. i dont understand why anyone wouldnt have it (unless you have shit internet) we have it on our TV, my ipad, her ipad, and my PS4. it was criticised at first for lack of/poor content but thats definitely not an issue now, theres an amazing amount of kids shows and movies on there too! 20p a day! cant fault it.Prufrock wrote:Don't have Sky- all I'd want is the football, and I'd rather go to the pub anyway - but recently decided to have a do at Netflix.
