Agreed, although I always preferred Alice In Chains from that era/genre.Dr Hotdog wrote:Nirvana were one of the best bands ever.
That MGMT stuff reminds me loads of the Flaming Lips and Todd Rundgren, which is good. I've yet to hear the full album though. Promising.
At the moment I simply can't get enough of the new Torche and Saviours records. Awesome stuff.

Swinging the Blues-The Best of Big Band. Just about every great Big Band ever was. Kenton, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Gene Krupa (yes he had an orchestra) Basie, Dorsey, Armstrong, Glenn Miller etc etc.
Edit: Swapped now to "The Breeze and I" Xavier Cugat Orchestra.

Wasn't what I meant - but if we're starting a 1,2,3.. list, then I'd put Foo Fighters above Nirvana, thats all.FD wrote:I love Nirvana, I love Foo Fighters.
Is there a reason they can't be both considered brilliant, brilliant bands?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Incesticide is ropey in its very nature and shouldn't be compared alongside Bleach, Nervermind or In Utero because of it's varying recording sessions, musicians, engineers and producers.FD wrote:Think I might as well actually, purely because Grohl's music is more consistent whereas early Nivana (Bleach, Insesticide) had some great tracks mixed with some really ropey ones.
Bleach, for what it is, is as good as the eponymous Foo Fighters debut. Low budget, low-fi, brilliant hard rock.
