Nirvana were one of the best bands ever.

That MGMT stuff reminds me loads of the Flaming Lips and Todd Rundgren, which is good. I've yet to hear the full album though. Promising.

At the moment I simply can't get enough of the new Torche and Saviours records. Awesome stuff.

Agreed, although I always preferred Alice In Chains from that era/genre.

I probably listen to Soundgarden more than I do any other grunge band, but Nirvana always tops the poll.

Swinging the Blues-The Best of Big Band. Just about every great Big Band ever was. Kenton, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Gene Krupa (yes he had an orchestra) Basie, Dorsey, Armstrong, Glenn Miller etc etc.

Edit: Swapped now to "The Breeze and I" Xavier Cugat Orchestra.

I was considering playing 'In the Mood' followed by the 'Organ Symphony'. Regrettably my wife had a headache.

Buy her a String of Pearls and play her a Moonlight Serenade. If that doesn't work have a Little Brown Jug and go to bed.

Yeah the first two Foo Fighters records are largely flawless, but In Utero and Nervermind are fixtures in the top-20 best albums in history!

I simply prefer Dave behind the kit, it's more natural!

I agree with him FWIW.

I love Nirvana, I love Foo Fighters.

Is there a reason they can't be both considered brilliant, brilliant bands?

Wasn't what I meant - but if we're starting a 1,2,3.. list, then I'd put Foo Fighters above Nirvana, thats all.

Think I might as well actually, purely because Grohl's music is more consistent whereas early Nivana (Bleach, Insesticide) had some great tracks mixed with some really ropey ones.

Personally, The Colour And The Shape is one of my favourite all-time albums, though I'm not as admirining of their recent work. Its good, but that album was great.

Colour and the shape was a stunning record...I love There is nothing left to lose as well actually though that seems to be one of their more under-rated albums.

Incesticide is ropey in its very nature and shouldn't be compared alongside Bleach, Nervermind or In Utero because of it's varying recording sessions, musicians, engineers and producers.

Bleach, for what it is, is as good as the eponymous Foo Fighters debut. Low budget, low-fi, brilliant hard rock.

Operator Please - Yes Yes Vindictive

salright. Reminds me a bit of YYY's, Arctic Monkeys,
"Young people, nowadays, imagine money is everything."

"Yes, and when they grow older they know it."
