What are you watching tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Watched Tom Hanks in Bridge of Spies last night. Gary Powers and the U.2 spy plane incident. Good film. I enjoyed it.

Watched The Jinx last night. Was so hooked I watched all 6 episodes back to back. Wrecked this morning, but great real life drama. Well recommended.

Meantime. More 'Thatcher's Britain was oppressive' stuff from Mike Leigh. A fair enough watch which is very well acted out, though for me personally, I always have difficulty in telling Gary Oldman from Phil Daniels from Tim Roth, and this has got all three of the feck* in it!

Watched 'Amy', last night. Apart from that waste of space purporting to be her husband, her dad came across as a bit of a cnut didn't he? A very sad tale all 'round, tragic waste of a funny, talented, mixed up girl.

I really want to see that, and will, but Amy Winehouse's Dad has always come across to me as being the sort of parent that led me to give up coaching kids at football. An absolute know-all/know-nowt bellend.

Correct. Though Mike Leigh has made some good filums. Champagne socialist. Good choices in my book.

Just came across a 2014 release, Jimmy's Hall a film set in rural Ireland in the 1930's around the true story of James Gralton. Not a powerhouse like The Wind That Shakes the Barley ( you watched that one Bruce?) but a slow moving and tense drama of hypocracy and power abuse. How to bring out the worst in a man; put him in a uniform and tell him he's in charge of something. One for watching.....WtW will probably like this one...

watched that last night... Blake - the bellend husband - was, well, an utter bellend..

her dad doesn't come across well - and my missus tells me he's not happy about the film and how he is portrayed in the telling of it (though it is all genuine footage...) In the film the story is that he wasn't around when she needed him during her childhood - he was swanning off having an affair for years - then actually buggered off... but reappears when she becomes famous (funny that) and suddenly takes a huge controlling interest in her life...

she comes across as massively needy of a male figure to look up to and cling to - cos you just ask yourself all the time - how massively talented you are, yet you look up tjo these wasters and let tme control and direct your entire life... the footage of her looking utterly besotted and adoringly at Blake - who got her onto hard drugs - left her (twice) and basically fecked up her life (though she seemed flakey enough to have fecked it up on her own, tbh) is quite hard to watch...

Netflix can feck off. Sussed out my VPN and now want me to pay for the locally 'curated ' version. Meaning bits missing and lots of stuff not at all. I've not looked, but it's a safe bet it'll be 50% more expensive for 50% less

does Unblock-us work where you are? It's a pay service - but it's stable and you don't have to fanny about changing settings and numbers whenever Netflix catches up with them...

To be honest I can't be bothered with the cat and mouse. I changed VPNs not that long ago and the one I have works really well for me for other stuff, so don't really want to pay any more. I've loads of torrents to catch up on, so will just go with them. I'll keep that unblock thing in mind for when my VPN subscription ends (though I'll need the VPN to access it!).

the nmissus told me that netflix is getting all antsy and proactive in chasing down all such country-boundary-blurring technology and is tackling it on a country-by-country basis... maybe you're just first in line and it'll hit the rest of us soon... (I think it's Sony and the like who are most cross about it...)

They recently launched Netflix here, so probably why. They cut so much on the telly here that I refuse to pay for something else that I only get to watch part of something. Watched a film last night and they cut the bit of the film that made the previous hour make sense! There was uproar here (or as close as it gets to it here) when they cut about half an hour of Wolf of Wall Street in the cinemas. It's always a bit here and there and can make the film incomprehensible sometimes :(

Watched 'The disappearance of Alice Creed'. On my planner from BBC the other weekend. Strange little film about a kidnapping. That Marsan fella stars, and Gemma Arterton is chained naked to a bed with a ball gag in her mouth. That kept my attention levels up.
