You have to give them notice of a month AFTER the next payment ... then they try and bombard you with calls and mails to see if they can persuade you otherwise.

I think telling them the account holder is being taken into a home (or died) is about the only way to get them off your back.
I'm leaving the country worked for me. Well, I had to say it twice for it to sink in...

Oh, I should have added .... though I paid it, it was for my mother, at her home and in her name. So I had to call them while she was with me .... yet between certain hours. It took a while to coincide these points.

Then I had to give her the phone while she confirmed that she wanted to exit ... then had to give some answers to security questions ... all of which I answered but SHE had to say it. The odd scene of me listening to the questions, giving the phone to her and telling her what to say (about 4 times in most cases) was a sight to behold.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Good speech, AT. I can make a compelling case for moving to America. I shouldn't actually have to lie though. :?

Very true, but if it stops the endless calls pleading you to come back it has to be worth it.

Bring it!
I tried to leave... once. I'm still with them. It was as bad an experience as trying to leave AOL. I only managed that because I changed bank accounts - they're probably still debiting the old one on a monthly basis. Ha.

Did you have to do that to me... on a Monday morning? It should have come with a warning. (But how the hell did he accidentally squash his testicles when getting out of bed?)

One of my colleagues is interviewing this morning for a vacancy in Sales Admin. I thought I'd be helpful and voiced my preferred criteria.

Got called 'sexist' for my troubles. Won't bother in future. :(

You should consider the Middle East. Here you can specify whatever criteria, including gender, physical appearance and anything else you can think up. On the off chance someone objects to it, as long as you don't flip the bird there is no come back. The PC brigade would literally explode here!

Anybody else looking at the news and interpreting one of the stories as "Nelson Mandela: Not Dead Yet". All a bit morbid, waiting for him to drop off the perch. Can't they just wait to announce his demise when he's actually died, rather than this constant updating of just how frail and ill he is?

Mr GG has to go to Switzerland on a business trip early next week probably. I'm already struggling with the logistics of this such as how the dog gets an evening walk when theres only one of me and i'm needed with the kids too. Huge kudos to all the single parents out there who manage that sort of stuff day in, day out.
