If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

It came in this weird envelope that was sealed and perferated like a wage slip. Couldnt tell me too much about operations etc, but he seemed very excited to be calling in airstrikes from the US Marines as part of his day job - there's going to be some stories to tell when he gets back Im sure!
and probably some horrible nightmares too... really good for you to actually get summat in your hands from him though - plus you must mean summat to him for him to write to you in such circumstances... :pissed:

Wow. Never seen anybody 'tell' a song like that. Checked out Perfect Blue Buildings afterwards and same thing.

I think I wrote him the longest letter he's received yet out there - it was just before Christmas and I went on a 5 page rant about Bolton basically which Im sure cheered him up no end in a freezing cold desert. I pondered the question "I wonder what will happen first, you come back off tour or Coyle gets sacked". Looks like the former!

I saw his mum at weekend and she said he told her the most shocking things have been the less obvious ones. Kids happily taking chocolate from them one minute then running off to tell the local militia where they are to bring down fire on them the next. People using their own pets as target practice. Utter poverty everywhere and children being indoctrinated to hate them from an early age.

He said he's glad he has done the tour, but doesnt fancy doing another.

Not happy, but proud of my sister. She sadly lost her son, my nephew, at 6 weeks old in January this year. Most of his care was at The Evelina Hospital in London which she has been fundraising for ever since. She appeared on local radio today appealing for bits and pieces for the hospital and was so articulate and brave when she spoke about him i could have cried.

I've got a stuffed toy meerkat that the insurance people sent me. I could send that if you like. It's brand new and still in the box.

Can't hear the audio at work, Bruce, but if past experience is anything to go by they don't like toys with fur as donations as they carry an infection risk.

Thanks for the offer Bruce, he's very cute but I think GtE might be right - though I know Joseph had some cuddly toys with him. :?

It's quite a desirable object at present though. They will have fund-raisers 7 raflles etc., etc. It would fetch some value I'd bet.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Was thinking that I'll give it to Our Mops then - and send £20. How does that sound?

Dammit. Given myself away.

If Bruce wants it, maybe to help make another shirt, that's fine, but will be happy to take it if not.

You have every right to be proud of your sister, GG. I lost a brother, due to heart problems, when he was just seven days old. That was fifty years ago. I don't think my parents had much time to grieve as there were already four of us to provide for. I never met him.

I wish Jo every success in her endeavour to help the Evelina and the children for whom it cares.

So did Paddy, but we couldn't donate them to the ward. The infection risk is from passing them between children. What comes with the child stays with the child. Anything else isn't allowed. Same with cut flowers. The standing water in the vase can cause problems too.

Anyway, your sister should be massively proud of what she's achieved.

Did you get a chance to listen to the interview GtE? She pretty much says on it that it was a case of either taking to her bed amidst much mourning and weeping or doing something that meant she was able to feel Joseph's short life wasn't in vain. Am very glad she's chosen the latter, not that it means that she doesn't have days when she feels very low but the fundraising has definitely helped her as well as the hospital.
