Re: The Politics Thread
During a debate in parliament, the supposedly worst ever Prime Minister we have ever had, Lord North (who lost the American colonies), was accused of being asleep.
Keeping his eyes closed, Lord North replied "I wish to God I were".
Theresa May is an imbecile in comparison to our worst ever Prime Minister.

I'll vote for Corbyn if he fcuks this up and we leave no deal.
I see Baroness big mouth is shouting the odds again, momentum target?
I hope that bloody dog bites May on Sunday.

When Bercow shouts "Unlock", what the feck is actually being unlocked?
May the bridges I burn light your way

The doors! Every time there's a vote they all get locked in.

Re: The Politics Thread
What I hate - more than that - is when someone makes a point they feel is clever (and almost always isn't) their colleagues will start going "ahhhhhh" in a horribly condescending and ridiculous manner. They think this makes them seem like they are winning an argument.
Instead it just makes them look like even bigger dicks than they already are.
Re: The Politics Thread
You think it's bad in there... When Bills go through committee stage every single clause has to be approved. This can mean a vote every 15 minutes or so, sometimes more, all day. Every time they lock the sodding doors and then unlock them.
If you get a normal chair, it's annoying. If you get some bombastic tool shouting it at the top of their voice each time, you start googling what the rules are about murder on the parliamentary estate.

Re: The Politics Thread
I think it must be the very sound of Bercow's voice that grates as much as anything. I didn't have a similar problem with Betty Boothroyd for instance. When I hear Bercow crow "Division, clear the lobby" I actually want to punch the radio.

I want to punch his face as soon as see it. (I didn't say that. Hate speech is wrong. My wife would have his babies, though

"The study, compiled annually by the democracy charity, found that when people were asked whether “Britain needs a strong ruler willing to break the rules”, 54% agreed and only 23% said no."
Might that not be better stated as :

I think the study reveals people are more confident leaving their fate to a dictator than Insano and his ballot box mates.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 1:23 pm"The study, compiled annually by the democracy charity, found that when people were asked whether “Britain needs a strong ruler willing to break the rules”, 54% agreed and only 23% said no."

You certainly seem to be comfortable with the dictator model. Given your views on many issues it is hardly a surprise to me.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 1:36 pmI think the study reveals people are more confident leaving their fate to a dictator than Insano and his ballot box mates.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 1:23 pm"The study, compiled annually by the democracy charity, found that when people were asked whether “Britain needs a strong ruler willing to break the rules”, 54% agreed and only 23% said no."
