We are in the early death throes of the NHS. Of course, no government wants it on their CV, so they'll make it look like it's f*cked itself. And they're doing a pretty good stitch up job.
Which is the same as they've done with the fire service, police service, probation service and prison service. But now I see Cameron is ready to don his armour, mount his white horse and ride to the rescue of the prison service. What an utter cnut. The tories seem to think they can ruin everything and hope Joe public either doesn't notice or are past caring. They can 'reform' whatever they've been unable to sell off to the highest bidder, after spending years neglecting and running said service / institution into the ground. The NHS is the only public body left that the ordinary people of this country have a vested interest in. We are (Unless hugely privileged), all born into it. We have an investment in it from our first breath. The tories hate that fact. They want to break that connection between the public and our care service at any cost. The general public (particularly outside the north of England), didn't care much about the miner's plight and closure of pits under Thatcher. The public, wrongly in my opinion, don't care much about the loss of our steel industry and thousands of jobs with it. It's all happened too often, like Bolton losing away; you get used to it. But now they've picked a fight with the children of middle England. The offspring of (usually, but I can't help but stereotype in the main here), an educated middle class. In short people who not only can make their voices heard but are listened to when they speak. Middle England doesn't like what it's hearing, and if the tories want to take them on, they will receive a broken and bloody nose. I just hope there's enough staff on call when they arrive at A&E to have it fixed.

This govt is a pretty naked ideological struggle for a smaller state under the quite good wool-over-the-eyes austerity myth...Bruce Rioja wrote:As proven where, exactly?Il Pirate wrote: Which is the same as they've done with the fire service, police service, probation service and prison service.

What's been going on?
No one cares. In a few months time folk will start getting up for it, read a few leaflets, decide it's reet and if it ain't broke, and the finally Faridge can piss off.

Why have you been quite quiet the last couple of days? It's not like sometime tomorrow or the day after when Serious Dave comes out to brief the nation you're going to carefully consider it, weigh both sides of the debate and then switch to "Done deal, I'm in!"...Hoboh wrote:I've been quite quiet the last day or so given all that's going onPrufrock wrote:And very successful you've been too!Hoboh wrote:I am trying to stay off the subject theferalFederal United States of Europe until the start gun has been fired thank you.

Say a gang kicked someone to death why should it matter whose boot delivered the fatal blow?
All guilty, all should be shot, soon put the stops on these 'teen' hard men!

Of course I'm going to consider it seriously and look for any gaffs and cock ups that can be exploited in my soon to become operative national comment accounts, might even revise my twitter account, got to get the message across UK, good EU, bad.Worthy4England wrote:Why have you been quite quiet the last couple of days? So, you're in a pub and your mate has a barney with some bloke. It kicks off, you've nowt to do with it, but the bloke falls and cracks his head and dies. Should you be convicted under joint enterprise just because you were there?Hoboh wrote:Why?Enoch wrote:More saddened than angry.Enoch wrote:Under this country's ‘deport first, appeal later’ policy a young man of 21 is to be deported on his release from prison. Why wait for conviction? He should just be shot immediately on the spot.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:So, you're in a pub and your mate has a barney with some bloke. I would have thought it was quite useful when dealing with organised crime though, no?
