What are you playing tonight?

Kraftwerk? :conf:
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Heard that about them these days too. I saw them at Trentham Gardens in about 1994 and it was a cracking gig.

Dunno what it is about them though they're getting worse with age instead of better - I listened to Some Friendly in the car just the other day but the last album of theirs I bought (about 7 or 8 years ago now - I can't even remember what it was called) was so dreadful it only saw the light of day a couple of times.

Speaking of Kraftwerk, I'm listening to Kling Klang from Liverpool.

Sublime stuff.

Being a bit of a Ritchie Blackmore fan, from days of yore, I thought I'd take in a bit of Blackmore's Night....Can't make me mind up to be honest...all a bit samey.

Thought I'd also try a bit of Too much Texas as me mate plays bass....Ton Hingley from Inspirals on vocals....

Yes, good to listen too but you can only take Greensleeves for a short time. Incidentally, Blackmore's Night played in Cardiff a while back and I thought I'd go to see the legend play. I decided against it when I heard people were invited to dress up as minstrels for the show! feck that.

The Academy has long been my favourite venue and over the years I've seen many, many bands there. Given the size and shape of the place I've always considered it near impossible for a band to sound poor when playing their. The Charlatans even sounded poor by the mixing desk. Not only that but they seemed to do a set of stuff that they wanted to play rather than what the audience wanted to see/hear them play.

I really only know his 'flying in a blue dream' stuff, circa '91?

Technically brilliant, but plank spanking should be reserved for the concert hall, not entire albums, IMHO. Same with Steve Vai

see your point and i've never been a massive fan of the whole 80's cock rock malarky. that said i play a little bit of guitar and and to watch and hear the stuff Satriani and Steve Vai come out with is off the chain. Anyone remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPB2qbxuiLM

Dug out some old Boomtown Rats. Started with The Fine Art of Surfacing and will work my way backwards through A Tonic For The Troops and the eponymous first album.
