Ignore the sarcy bastards. Yes, Enfield Borough. Bush Hill Park (renting) first then Edmonton and now Enfield Town. Do you know it?boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 5:26 pmWhere abouts in London?Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 2:35 pmI moved to London in '89
Bought a two bed flat in '90 for £66,000 and a mortgage at 15% interest
In '91 the housing market collapsed and my flat was worth half what I paid
I sold it in '99 for £59,000. £7,000 less than I paid for it 9 years previously
I bought a 3 bed terrace which I have lived in since and whicch is now worth significantly more than the £124,000 I paid for it.
I do not feel guilty about this, and fully intend to cash in at some point and live like a F***ing lord.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
A very true story not to warm the heart, or anywhere else:
Last Wednesday as you know, it was pretty vicious with temperatures really well down. We don't have gas in our house, everything is electric, cooker, fires etc. Wife decides maybe we could do with a spare small convector heater, just in case, and goes online to a local supplier of many wonderful things and orders one, paying for same day delivery.(We don't have car these days and transport was ll over the place.) No problem, she was told, and paid by card online. Shortly after she received an e-mail to say that unfortunately the store were having transport problems because of the weather and the heater would be delivered next day (Thursday and normanlly our supermarket shopping day) Okay, we'll shop Friday. No we won't, because Thursday morning another e-mail informs us that the item can't be delivered (due to delivery/traffic/backlog problems etc. It will now be delivered Saturday. Wife does a W.T.F phone call to the store (she wouldn't let me do it for some reason) and is told the same old, "awfully sorry, problems etc, blah blah, but hey we can deliver Sunday. Come Sunday, e-mail postpones delivery, wife rings store and cancels the order. Okay, we'll refund your payment withing five working days madame. Very sorry for the inconvenience. End.
Today, coming home after a dog walk I find a van pulling up outside the house from the supplier of many wonderful things to deliver the cancelled order. Can't really blame the driver, he just delivers, but he knew nothing of any cancellation. He put the item back in his van and off he went. About 4-0'clock, wife got an e-mail to say the delivery was on its way. She was very patient (the reason she made the call and not me) and asked where exactly the item had been "in store" when we ordered it? Oh, in our Bolton store madame.!"...............
I could have got a taxi both ways on Wednesday for a fiver more than the delivery cost and been home within the hour with the product.
I shall be visiting the store of many wonderful things some time soon......

Very well, Argos are the villains. Probably not a massive surprise. In fairnesss, I've never had much problem with them in the past, and no doubt the weather will take the blame for deliveries etc....

I am a bit surprised as I've never had a bad experience with them, though admittedly only had one thing delivered from them, usually just click and collect.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 1:27 pmVery well, Argos are the villains. Probably not a massive surprise.
But yeah that sounds like they were incompetent. I guess the snow is a valid excuse to an extent but they should have made that clearer at the start.

Imagine using the insult "Snowflake" in a post where you're too mard to name Argos on a football forumTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 10:55 amPossibly, with so many legal snowflakes falling these days, best to let you speculate.

I had a run-in with a spotty bastard who was serving me in a computer shop once, but I refrained from naming them on here as it's such a PC world.dave the minion wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 11:20 amI'm sure you could quote the name without redress - not like you are trying to curry favour with anyone is it?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 11:06 amDon't be ridiculous. What are you on about? A "legal snowflake falling" was referring to laws, rules and regs, not people..?Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Mar 08, 2018 11:13 amI'm not the one calling other people snowflakes am I?!TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 4:19 pmPrufrock wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 2:36 pmImagine using the insult "Snowflake" in a post where you're too mard to name Argos on a football forumTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 10:55 amPossibly, with so many legal snowflakes falling these days, best to let you speculate.Christ alive.

Oi, you! The use of the term Spotty in an offensive, derogatory, personal or insulting manner is very upsetting to some of us.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Mar 08, 2018 10:40 amI had a run-in with a spotty bastard who was serving me in a computer shop once, but I refrained from naming them on here as it's such a PC world.dave the minion wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 11:20 amI'm sure you could quote the name without redress - not like you are trying to curry favour with anyone is it?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 11:06 amDon't be ridiculous.
