Re: General Chit Chat
There refers to over there as in there is a cow over there. Their refers their as in a group for example their team is not very good. I do know the difference it is just given this is a forum I will make a few mistakes and I wont check my posts thoroughly for mistakes. Thank you for the advice none the less.Always hopeful wrote:Dan, seriously, forgetting the lonely cow for a minute, as a piece of advice for your future progression in life, please look up and remember when and how to use 'their' and 'there' in the correct context. Trust me in saying that having a basic grasp of this pretty fundamental aspect of the English language is advantageous.bwfcdan94 wrote:There is a mysterious lonely cow on our local cricket pitch which is currently used 5 times a week! Never known cattle being kept on their before and given that it is used pretty much constantly by local football and cricket teams all year it is a bit surprising to say the least.

The photo puts me in mind of the old joke about someone putting on running shoes as they see a bear coming toward them and the guy's mate says "why are you doing that ... you'll never outrun it ?".
"No, but I'll outrun you".
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

No, Gary. I sailed out here in 1955 which I think was before the £10 pom system was introduced. My father had been offered a job (he was a surveyor/cartographer) by a local government department. Part of the deal was the transport of the family and all goods and chattels - personnel by first class - paid for by that department. It wasn't half swish!Gary the Enfield wrote:£10 poms?

Passport? No. All my siblings, and me, were 'appendages' to my parents'.

A most deep and meaningful comment, Bruce. It was a hard job, but someone had to do it.Bruce Rioja wrote:"Right, now you see all this bit in the middle? Yeah? feck all!"Dujon wrote:My father had been offered a job (he was a surveyor/cartographer)

Well, put it this way GG, if your cat was on holiday out in Canada at about 51º21'37.73"N 116º14'51.76"W at an elevation around 2162m, then no, but would you do me a favour and tell your pussy off because it scared the do-doos out of me.Gooner Girl wrote:I have a large ginger cat, you sure it was a bear you met?!Lost Leopard Spot wrote: That bear is small and black.
