Dear me. 80 - 4?

I have more hope than expectation with Bell. Get's his eye in and he's generally away - IF he gets his eye in.
Doesn't produce when we really need him to....
In fairness to Bell, at the minute, we really need him to, every time he comes to the wicket. 4 down again less than 150 on the board. Not good enough.
Aye. We should never be in this position. Winning that toss and putting them in was a get them out for about 150 ish.....

We need a rethink somewhere as this has gone from a poor run into something approaching a crisis.

For all the talk of taking the captaincy away from Cook, I'm not sure that there's really a viable alternative at the moment. Stuart Broad, maybe, but other than him the cupboard seems a bit bare in terms of leaders.

I can't see Broad as a Test Captain. I struggle to see Broad as a 20/20 Captain.

This gave me a laugh this morning:

"They're doing it, aren't they? They're doing it again. We all got up this morning accepting it would be done by around half two, and now the buggers are showing things like "pride" and "ability", and soon we are going to have "hope", and that will be follow by "despair" when they lose a close game. Why couldn't they just collapse in a heap this morning? They can't even lose properly!"

I actually worry most about lunch. It upsets the batsmens' continuity, concentration and takes their eyes off the ball. Getting your eye in is one of the most critical aspects of batting and the first couple of overs after lunch will be critical.

Only following the text....England can hardly complain about short stuff. Its all we sent down for a couple of sessions this match (ineffectively so).

On paper we still have a chance with Prior and Stokes to come. However, Stokes hasn't reached double figures since January and Prior's form with the bat is not good........

Prior gone for 12. 198-6. Not impossible or the worst ever, but nail-biting a bit now. Thought Prior was just beginning to warm to it. Ah well, heads up and keep battling....

So from the sound of it, Prior and Stokes have both just gifted their wickets away. Simply...not...good.....enough.

And now Root has gone. Yet another collapse. Completely self inflicted once again.

And Root gone. Bye bye.

Sounds like we tried to attack the short balls and got, er...balled. "Moronic cricket" says the man. Broad and Anderson.......?

Everyone is saying that....

Needs a complete overhaul. Pick the bones out of it and restart.

New captain. New players. This will likely now be 10 tests with no win. Even if Broad, Plunkett and Anderson pull off a miracle that doesn't change it for me.

Too many players not up to it. Prior, Cook, Bell, Stokes - need dropping for a while at least.

Need a spinner as we can't keep bowling Jimmy into the ground. I'm not convinced by Peter Moores but he's been handed a tough job with our best players all leaving and the remaining stalwarts totally out of form.

But lets not pretend, we've gone from the one of if not the best test side around to complete and utter laughing stocks in 2 years.

I guess the good news is, we're down to the batsmen now with only a fraction over 100 to get.

We're not laughing stocks. That would be taking away any good cricket from the opposition and that isn't the case. We lose some, thus it ever was.

We are laughing stocks. This Indian side haven't won a test abroad since 2011. We put them in on a pitch covered with grass, had a massive advantage and still look likely to lose the game.

Jonathan Agnew's comment this morning sums it up.
"The most galling thing for England is that they have been outplayed by India on a pitch that was made to order. That is a damning indictment of this team."
