Re: Where are you going tonight?
This is a real David Thacker production... story crystal clear, acting totally centred in all roles, but especially in the crucial father of the family Arthur Winslow, where Christopher Ravenscroft just inhabits the part to something close to perfection...clapton is god wrote:We're there tomorrow night....or possibly not. Got problems and might have to ask for an exchange of tickets. Let us know how it goes please.William the White wrote:Press night of The Winslow Boy at the Octagon. Looking forward to another David Thacker production.
No patchy performances, this is centred acting of a quality to just make you sit back and wonder... There's no other regional theatre in the country that gets acting this good, this consistently... I mean this...
The play is a model of classical theatrical structure - a single decision changes the lives of every character. I think it still packs a genuine punch, and its central message - Let Right Be Done- echoes still...
Heads up to mummy - the play is based on a real case - that of George Archer-Shee - tho I suspect Rattigan took many liberties... As writers often do...
Recommendation wholehearted, clapton... Let us know what you think...

They're on their 3rd now. Personally, the debut album is still my fave but some great stuff on the other 2 as well.Prufrock wrote:Cracking album that! They do much since?

Saw the best thriller I have seen in years yesterday! Headhunters, a Norwegian subtitled Jo Nesbo book. Don't let that put you off - it really is a great great film!

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Had a pleasant walk around Entwistle Reservoir this afternoon with Mrs BP. A right racket was being made from what looked between the trees like herons. One of which was standing proudly in its nest. Only had camera phone so no pics unfortunately.
It poured down on the way there, stopped by the time we arrived, freezing cold as we set off and brilliant sunshine as we got around t'other side. Virtually all the seasons in 1.5 hours.
Out of interest, how would one find their way from Entwistle to the Strawbury Duck. I've never been.
Also, at which point(s) can you walk through from Entwistle to Wayoh?

Re: Where are you going tonight?
set out on bike today - sun shining - but freezing cold frost... on way back (much later in day) - absolutely pissed it down for 10mins - totally soaked - then emerged from under cloud to find dry roads and fine stretches of empty road with glorious sunshine - totally blow-dried by the time I got home! (now I can hear thunder!)Burnden Paddock wrote:

OK, lets say that you've walked round the rez and you're stood on the tarmac road at the top of the dam. If you turn right you'll walk back across the head of the rez and to the car park on the Green Arms Road side. Turn left instead - that'll take you into Entwistle village, and more importantly to the Strawburry Duck. Carry on walking past the SD and that'll take you to the Wayoh.
My favourite walk with the dog is Jumbles-Witton Weaver's Way - Enty - Wayoh. Would be more than happy to show you the route, Fella, should you (or anyone else) wish.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Bruce correct - but about 200 yards before the dam there's a path - nice and steep - through the woods to the road to the strawbury duck - just turn right when you hit it... Just my preferred route round the reservoirs, a walk I also enjoy...Bruce Rioja wrote:Follow the smell of steak on the grillBurnden Paddock wrote:

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Right. There was a car coming t'other way as we walked across the dam back to the car park. Presumably he was going to Entwistle Village then. I wondered where he was heading. I take it you can drive through and park up by Wayoh?Bruce Rioja wrote:Follow the smell of steak on the grillBurnden Paddock wrote:

I must say, one of the things that puts me off owning a dog of my own is the awful sensation of sliding one's hand into an ASDA bag and picking up still-warm dogshit!William the White wrote:
