Rogan Josh is a lamb dish. Calling it Lamb Rogan Josh, as opposed to summat else Rogan Josh signifies either dining in bobbins Bangladeshi resteraunts, or buying Bangladeshi take-away food. Don't do it! Have a go at making your own.Dr Hotdog wrote:lamb rogan josh.

I love making curries from scratch. All of our take-away menus offer different meats in their Rogan Josh bit - chicken, lamb, beef, keema - even bloody prawns (yuk!). I don't think i've ever had anything other than lamb though, the source is too red and rich for it not to be.Bruce Rioja wrote:Rogan Josh is a lamb dish. Lamb tikka Sylhet.
Just out of interest Bolton does have an absolutely amazing curry house now. Its not open after the pubs but I'd highly recommend anyone to go. Was never a massive curry fan until recently, I think too many years of going to Rusholme for the cr@p they sell there, but this place has turrned me round to loving them, it absolutely rocks!!

In a tea pot or did you find somewhere legit?Little Green Man wrote:Barracuda Malabari - in Kerala, on the beach with a sly bottle of Kingfisher.
beer in the tea pot before you start thinking I meant LGM in the teapot

My fave curry has to be an Aloo Capsicum in Gaylords in Mumbai. Not what i'd normally go for but it was awesome.
When I was in India over Xmas I practically lived on Aloo Gobi - great stuff

I never encountered the brown paper. The tea pots were big in Cochin but I didn't really encounter them anywhere else. Munnar was a nightmare, didn't find a beer anywhere and I was there for 3 daysLittle Green Man wrote:Bottle wrapped in brown paper - never did get to try it teapot-style.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:In a tea pot or did you find somewhere legit?Little Green Man wrote:Barracuda Malabari - in Kerala, on the beach with a sly bottle of Kingfisher.

Bought some dodgy rum in Allepey from some mad back street bottle shop - not recommended! I went for the most expensive in the vain hope it would be ok - still drank it though when I was somewhere dry

I can't get a curry for love nor money where I live!
Chicken Shashlik. Nice tandoori type.
Chicken Ceylon. Hot with green chillis.
Any goat curry, I love the taste of goat.
I believe you can still get a lentil curry down Morley St. for about £3. Much better than a Big Mac.

If you're looking for a place not to go then the Green Bengal at Bromley Cross, where the volunteer used to be is one to avoid.
Very ordinary food and the swindling bastards charge nearly £5 for a bottle of Kingfisher.

chicken & lamb saag at the New Delhi Restuarant in Little India Singapore.
Curry sauce was natural green rather than e-number riddled florescent stuff we get over hear.
However when back home special mixed Vindalloo ( Lamb, Chicken & King Prawn ) from the Balti Spice.
Or a special mixed handi dish from Curry Mile
Do like the combination of lamb, chicken & king prawn in a curry

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England
