A magnificent display of outraged sabre-rattling there Bruce. I could almost feel the vibration of your waxed moustache quivering in indignation.Bruce Rioja wrote:What? Hang on, Tango. You don't see how utterly cheesey and downright embarrassing the 'goal music' is? Well maybe you do, however, what you're saying is that you just want to change the tune on the grounds that James Brown's snuffed it? You've astounded me, fella. Absolutely astounded me. So, any other music's fine so long as it's by someone that's alive?TANGODANCER wrote:I'm okay with 633 Squadron, but James Brown's dead now. Let him rest in peace and don't, please don't, give us "I feel good". Time to change the record.

Not what I implied at all. Of course I'm embarrased by the cheesy goal music, that's why I want rid. James Brown was a fine soul artist who has passed on. Time for that particular piece of music to do likewise. Oh, by the way, most of the artists who made my kind of music have passed on, probably including Eric Coates.

Atonished, Tango, and certainly not sabre rattling. Not what you implied? Indeed, you didn't imply anything. You made your only point that we shouldn't play in celebration the music of someone that's dead by dint of letting them rest in peace . that was your point, unless you're about to point out the cryptic one that I missed. I say, let's not play any music on our having scored at all, it's embarrassing. Furthermore, one of the purest beauties of being an attending football supporter at the ground is to enjoy and to contribute to the undiluted roar of your fellow men when your team scores. As such, shouldn't we be actively complaining re; fat men with flags and the accompanying music?

I'm okay with 633 Squadron, but James Brown's dead now. Let him rest in peace and don't, please don't, give us "I feel good". Time to change the record.
Since we were talking about what gets played each time we score, I thought you might have taken it all in that context. There was no hint of disrespect meant.

Sorry podcast, but you're talking balls here. I've sat in the South before, right next to them, and even We are the one and only..... is out of time. They used to be fine, now it's a race to see how fast they can get it going. They are bloody useless, drum in time, or just shut up.bwfcpodcast wrote:It's not a shit interpretation. If you take into account the accoustics of the ground...the drum echoes around a few times before its even got 60yards...never mind 120. We're all sayin that our atmospheres gettin worse, so join in with the chants and get it back too how it was a few seasons back when the drummers where there and everyone sang along!
I can understand where you're all comign from in the fact that when the match is crap it can get annoying, but when the team are winning and you won't even sing...i mean...come on!

I know what he's suggesting, fella. However, when I'm retorting to drivel by certain individuals, for instance, one particular poster that always feels the need to use the collective noun 'brigade' to sum up those that don't agree with his viewpoint, and by suggestion impying that modern findings are tosh when compared to chimney sweeping tradition, one has to try to get over a point from one's 'ridiculous' position of modern standing.fatshaft wrote:He means your ranting like a drunk Bruce and fears you may have been imbibing the grapeBruce Rioja wrote:walkingdownthemannyroad wrote:Been at the Rioja, Rioja ?![]()

I'm saying that we shouldn't be playing (are you ready for this?) ANY MUSIC AT ALL, THAT IS WHATSOEVER WHEN WE SCORE, BE IT BY ANYBODY EITHER DEAD, ALIVE OR SUSpENDED IN THE fecking ETHER It's embarrasing. What you're saying, quite clearly, is that it's ok to embarrass the club by playing goalscoring music, however it's disrespectful to play the music by James Brown by virtue of him being dead. How? Presumably you stop the dance everytime the band strike up a tune written by a dead composer, on the same grounds?

OK, let's get factual.bwfcpodcast wrote:It's not a shit interpretation. sound - the speed of sound at sea level = 340.29 m / s. So, it will take 0.352941176 seconds to travel 120m
light - the speed of light = 299 792 458 m / s. So, it will take 0.000000400277 seconds to travel 120m
That's more or less infintessimal, versus 1/3rd of a second.
Though, proportionately that's significant, no human being could ... from 120m away ... note that movements were occuring 1/3rd of a second later than the associated sound. This is all the more so when the sound is not discrete, but a conglomeration of noises.
In short, you're talking shite.
Do you take media studies ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

a few observations..
Bruce - let it go, man, it's not worth it
Tango - james brown being dead is irrelevant don't know why you raised it, it's just a tired track. But it could be worse, it could be "celebrate" by cool n the gang
Podcast - tosh. There's hardly an echo in that place when it's empty let alone when there's 20,000 in it. The accoustics are set to enhance sound not cause echo, otherwise it would not be suitable for concerts. An besides which Bruce pointed out you'd balls up to start with, as light has no bearing on sounds sounding out of time.
Now what wouldn't I like to see next season.....

I raised it Commie, because it was an opinion, something I thought we were allowed to express. "Change the record"does not neccesarily refer to swapping one piece of vynil for another. It also means time for a change. James Brown only got mentioned because his record was the one played after every goal. Not sure why this became such a big deal amongst everyone else expressing their views. I will however, watch my p's and q's from now on.communistworkethic wrote:a few observations..

I'll be very disappointed to see 'No Wanderers game on today' outside my local. Last year they were doing a pint and a curry for a fiver with the game thrown in courtesy of Al Jazeera free of charge. With the smoking ban it should be a damn sight more pleasant this season.
