The Greatest EVER.........American programme on British TV.

Family Guy is hilarious, as is King of the Hill.
Other favs:
Dexter
The Shield
Lost
Entourage
Boston Legal
Canterbury Law
NYPD Blue
Sopranos
Cold Case
House
It does annoy me that British tv is celebrity driven, even the dramas. Shows are written with stars in mind, David Jason for example. always billed 'A new drama starring (insert crusty old British actor/actress)'. The casting system in the UK is pants. Most US shows have actors that you've never seen or heard of before. The writing is the main draw, not the actor.

Aye, does seem very dated now, but it was good fun first time around. Sign of the times; we were so innocent then.Raven wrote:Friends (and yes i know its cool to say you don't like it these days!)

Everybody Loves Raymond
Early X Files
As for Happy Days, sorry would rather stick pins in my eyes!

Oh really, what is it, some kind of right wing satire?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Mummy, you'd love that one)

I like a lot of those already mentioned, but I do wonder how much of my career choices were affected by how much Ally McBeal I watched years ago!

The Daily Show is satirical news, close to The Day Today in form but closer to Bremner Bird & Fortune in style. Apparently a very large number of Americans under 30 consider it their primary news source. Marcus Brigstocke's Late Edition on BBC Four is an improving but still relatively poor imitation. The Daily Show airs 8.30pm Tue-Fri on More4, and I'd be interested to hear your views - or are you still abroad?

Still abroad. Am about to enjoy the hilarious week off that Dutch universities take for the week that contains their national holiday (Queen's Day). Thanks for the heads up though - I'll be sure to tune in when I get back at the start of July.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:The Daily Show is satirical news, close to The Day Today in form but closer to Bremner Bird & Fortune in style. Hadn't seen that episode before. I guffawed like a demon.Gertie wrote:My Name is Earl is my favourite show ever. That said, I watched an episode last night from the magic sky box where Earl did a creative writing class and it was just a bit weird.
