Well that's the answer to the London one, then - get it directed by Guy Ritchie.communistworkethic wrote:so sticking rigidly to their national traits then??Dujon wrote: The USA straggled like a lot of indisciplined sheep and the Australians were simply boorish; is it that hard to walk in rank and file around 400 metres of an oval? Pah!
as for the show, china's waited 100 years for this opportunity, it was always going to go big. The reasona you got certain themes - colour, wire-work was it was all directed by the man behind House of Flying Daggers and Hero.
It could involve two groups of shaven-headed gangster-wannabes, led by Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones, yelling "You facking cant" at each other.
Maybe Brian Cant could come along, to add his own personal brand of cantishness to the proceedings.

Ah, that's the spirit. Free jellied eels would follow on nicely from the 'Free Tibet' that they appear to be handing out quite liberally in Beijing. No idea how you eat a tibet mind, but frightfully generous of 'em.Worthy4England wrote:Free jellied eels for the dignitaries...

Mine too. That was absolutely spectacular (although consensus was that the flame would light even if the arrow missed. Some claim it did). Nevertheless, the Barcelona presentation was memorable and one of my all-time favourites.Dujon wrote: (my favourite being the archer at . . . Barcelona?)

That was a good 'un, that relay. Almost as good a finish as Rebecca Adlington's comeback for our second gold. Expect the fawning over her to last until she shanks her 800m freestyle, or a shoe in for Sports Personality Of The Year if she wins it.
Did I really see one headline in one of the papers (Sunday Express, I think) bemoaning the "problems with British Sport" because we didn't win any medals on the FIRST DAY of the games? And we wonder why our best sports performers disappoint, when there's pressure like that.

That swimming was amazing, I was watching live at stupid o'clock in the morning, two back to back amazing races.
Was odd to see the commentators and presenters getting really emotional about it as well.

The American commentators flipped out when we won the 4 x 100. They had been saying all week that they couldn't see anyone but France winning it . . . needless to say they were pleasantly surprised. Phelps' reaction was absolutely priceless.Athers wrote:That swimming was amazing, I was watching live at stupid o'clock in the morning, two back to back amazing races.
